Lafayette gets a Classic Country on FM

105.9 broke simulcasting smooth jazz with 106.3 to go classic country. 105.9 is in Mono now simulcasting 1520 AM. Sounds like its a satellite feed, and I only heard liners for the AM 1520 station, so I guess they are behind with updating things.

how far does 105.9 transmit towards BR?

Probably Livonia...maybe Maringouin at the farthest.

on oneill lane at a stop light i could catch it if my truck was in the right spot. but that was only setting still. when i moved the urban station was coming in strong.

RFLA...is that a back-handed compliment for KBZE...you always trash it everytime you speak of it...

I was wondering if one of those stations was going to break as both stations could be heard real well in Lafayette itself.

and to answer your question smashed... Forget it.. It's a 3400 watt station on a 450 foot tower south of Opelousas

You would probably have better luck in picking up co-channel mate KBZE from Morgan City (Urban) first.

There was nothing "backhanded". KBZE puts a better signal into Baton Rouge. Look at the countours.

The only time I've said anything bad I think about KBZE, was when they tried to promote different things on the station (Such as the Jerome Boykin (head of the Terrebonne NAACP) talk show that is on there) when the signal has a hard time in parts of Houma and Terreboone parish due to lack of power and bleedover from a station pushing 25kw on 106.3fm 6 miles out of town to the East. I admit I'm like the next guy in getting more people to listen, But when the people you claim to serve, can't hear what you are programming on a cheap radio, because of bleed from a channel that is closer and with more power. I'm sorry I'm not being racist or anything, I'm just looking at the technical facts. But for where KBZE is, on a more expensive radio they do put out a good signal for what they send out and they are doing a service for the community IMO.

But no StevenNOLA is correct. KBZE's contours allow for their signal to reach into Baton Rouge (and to where smashedcd stays at on the east side of Baton Rouge if I remember) better than the Opelousas signal.
