Lake City's Greatest Hits.......

WCJX sometime in the last week or so dropped the ball on the Classic Rock/AOR format and has gone rock-leaning Classic Hits as "Lake City's Greatest Hits" 106.5 The X. However, I do think they could throw in pop leaning classic hits and make it diverse considering that Oldies 1340/97.1 only covers so much of Lake City, with 97.1 just being an FM translator for 1340 WDSR and covering Lake City proper. Interesting change indeed for a station. I think what jocks they had have either been let go or just off during the transition. If anyone has any other info, it would be great to know!

Is WCJX still in receivership? My guess is the contract with Dial Global ran out and they couldn't get a straight barter (cash free) deal to continue the Dial Global Classic Rock network. So, bring it in house, and throw something on that the new owner can dump at any time.

If there were local jocks, I haven't heard any in my handful of trips through the area in recent months. This was all I heard:

...which of course is the descendant of the network carried by WTLK/WBGB here in Jacksonville from 1996-99.

This explains why I heard the full 12" mix of Blondie's "Heart of Glass" on there yesterday. I was like...what the? ...I like the song but hearing it there sure surprised me!

"Stevie D" is a local. I never listened to WCJX too much as WHHZ 100.5 The Buzz is more my style of rock, but my brother-in-law knows Stevie, and had him DJ his wedding.

WCJX and all other Black Crow Media Affiliated Stations are not in receivership...they are being operated as Debtor in Possession.Dial Global programs including John Boy & Billy (WKRO) and Bob and Sheri (WHHM,WVYB)are being run in other markets. The changes here would have happened regardless of the Debtor in Possession status and are simply market forces at work.Just made a similar change in Valdosta,GA (106.9) recently dropped News/Talk and adopted a similar classic hits format branded there as The Eagle. Black Crow has the ability to stay Classic Rock,go Mainstream or Alt Rock using libraries from WHOG and WRTT but the powers that be likely figured in this case there is the chance to sell more ad time to more clients based on a mass-appeal format.

Look for the possibility of Voice Tracking from other B.C> Markets for some of these stations.

Does anyone know if Bob Ganzak is still running things within the Black-Crow RTG Valdosta / Live Oak / Lake City subsidiary market?

JustMe... just for the record:

John Boy and Billy are syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks/Clear Channel. Bob and Sheri are syndicated by Greater Media (formerly Lincoln Financial/formerly Jefferson-Pilot). These are not Dial-Global programs. Not that it really matters in this context, but just pointing out the facts.

Both shows are home-based in Charlotte, NC.

Correction, Bob & Sheri, are based out of Greater Media's WLNK, but DG does the syndication for them.

The New X is Live and Local in the afternoons at least I know of as Stevie D is back to that slot of 3-7. So no casualties I think happened of the change...just a change of format is the only thing that has happened here.

I stand corrected. When I was PD at WPEZ/Macon, GA and we were contemplating picking up Bob and Sheri a couple of years back, Greater Media had just taken over the LFM/Charlotte properties (including WLNK) and they were still self-syndicating B&S. Dial-Global's sat system was their delivery platform, IIRC.
