Lake Michigan Tropo

Wow, ducting conditions are strong today over the lake - to the extent that WLAV Grand Rapids is coming in over WWDV Zion, IL from my location in S. Lake County! And, I don't mean fading in and out - I mean it's as if WWDV was off the air! Also got WBXX "Mix" Marshall, MI - really spectacular.

Interestingly, not only is western MI enhanced, but Milwaukee and some Madison/Beloit signals are enhanced, making for quite a full FM band! Basically getting stations from Baraboo, WI (WOLX) to Marshall, MI to South Bend, IL (WFRN) to Milwaukee to Muskegeon, MI (WSNX).

Same here again today in eastern michigan,
I'm pulling London Ontario, Cleveland,Oh stations like they are locals

well mine aint lake effect lol.

but im picking up WBYR Ft. Wayne. super strong between the local biblebangers here in anderson, indiana.

also think i caught chicagos 103.5 but WRXZ 103.3 was tearing it up pretty bad. so cant confirm

I wasn't DXing FM, but on TV, I caught two DTV stations from Michigan here in Poughkeepsie, NY early this morning (1/17). Before going to bed after an evening of real nice DTV Tropo DX, I set one TV on channel 14 and one on ch 51, and when I got up at 5:30, I had two new loggings and a new state on DTV.

On RF channel 51, my decoder box showed WLAJ-53, from Lansing, MI. This is my first Michigan (state #13) and most-distant station in about 9 months of DTV DX. (547 miles).

On RF channel 14, my other decoder showed WKBD-50 from Detroit (486 miles). This one had been in and out all evening; I'm glad it finally got strong enough to ID.

Also, around 2am, I was getting analog TV CFPL-10 from London, ON at 386 miles. Quite snowy but watchable, and the signal was quite steady.

Tropo is dead now during the day, and it's beginning to snow here.

The tropo continues and is bringing in stations from incredibly far to our east:

WMMQ, WFMK and WBFX from Lansing, MI (!) are all audible here in the NW suburbs of Chicago. WFMK is in over normally robust WMYX Racine, WI. And, I've been picking up WMUK and WFUR from Kalamazoo; WCSY South Haven, MI with its mere 3 kw. Amazing.

i wish i could pick up more, but seems down here there is a biblebanger transalator in every avalible space, totally killing any real hope for DX
