Lakes Media to acquire Danville's WVOV 970 AM

http://www.rbr.com/radio/radio_deals/virginia-group-doubles-down-in-danville.html

Lakes Media is buying Southern Gospel-formatted WVOV for $50,000. According to the article, they're going to pair it with their Danville daytimer 1580 WWDN for a nighttime signal, but they didn't actually interview anyone and probably don't know that WWDN basically exists so that its 250-watt translator, W283BN, can operate as FM station "104.5 The Dan".

Wouldn'y be surprised to see WVOV, with 54-watt nights, getting an FM translator as well. A good business plan for a city that probably can't get additional FMs due to its proximity to the Triangle, Triad and Roanoke-Lynchburg radio markets.

The translator is already on its way. I think it's 103.7 though I can't remember the callsign.

It's W279AO, 103.7 MHz. I just discovered it on Radio-Locator. Not sure if it's already on, but its currently licensed for 1 watt with a CP for 250 watts from what appears to be the same site as W283BN.
