Lamar Lynn 1933-2012

I think I remember Lamar---doing a stint in the mid-70's at WTOC-FM when it was country....am I remember the same guy? IF so I worked with him in 1976-77 at WTOC when I did my time there at 1290/TOC.

You do remember him. Lamar fell on hard times, even doing a stint in prison. But he was always good to me and I am sad that someone with that much talent did not benefit from the gift any more than he did. I was once told - and not by Lamar himself - that he was recruited to be the voice of Great American Country, the gig that wound up going to Bob Kingsley; but that Lamar could not get to the interview and they passed him over. I don't know whether this is true, but I do know he had a great radio voice, so I would not be surprised if he had come to the attention of a national syndicator. All I know for sure is that he was a good friend. I will miss him.
