Lame Local Radio Contests

B94 has been running a radio contest where listeners have to guess a secret sound that Buckhead and Bubba make. This contest runs every hour and if a listener doesn't get the sound, the prize increases by 50 dollars. To be honest this contest sounds pretty lame, but I'm sure there has been worse radio contests that have taken place and I was curious to hear what tops everyones list for the most lame radio contest that has taken place on our local airwaves. Anything worse than a 'secret sound?'

"Listen for your name all day every day and if you call us back you get a prize but we're not saying what that is either......"

Isn't that how most contests go now?

("You say my name on the radio I'mo KILL you"... Scott Paulsen as J.T.)

Back in the day, 13Q had a contest where they would give you money if they called you and you answered the phone, " I listen to the new sound of 13Q".

I agree that it wasn't lame. 13Q was the station I listened to when I was youing. It was a great station. I remember though how different that contest was for the time.

This secret sound thing has been done before too [Simpsons did it....ok they prob havent]

I listen to a web radio stream out of the UK and all last summer they did 3 secret sounds. It seemed to be kinda successful. I was listening memorial day to B and Ron-Man had a bunch of people calling in trying to guess the secret sound, enough that just about every other break or at least after the promo for the sound aired he had to remind everyone that they were taking a break from the sound for memorial day.

Precisely... The old "Don & Mike" radio show used to have a "Secret Sound" contest for years. A running gag of the contest is "It's not a stapler!" because some callers would erroneously guess that the sound is a stapler, even though the item was previously used in the contest, or it has been guessed incorrectly on previous installments of the game.
