Lame Report on ABC-15

All during the prime time programming on Tuesday evening, ABC15 kept promoing a report coming up on the ten p.m. news about whether the valley's housing market is still strong. It implied that we would learn whether the valley's housing market is slowing down or still continuing at a brisk pace.

Then comes ten p.m., and the report. It concludes that the valley's housing market is slowing down. Were any valley real estate experts interviewed? Was any reason given as to what is causing the slowdown? Not that I saw. The report was based on the workers at a sign shop who say that they are now seeing more orders for "For Sale" and "Open House" signs.

Couldn't they have done better than this?

What do you expect from 15?

Right! If ABC 15 had based their report on credible objective data, they would've violated one of their own in-house rules of journalism. Besides, someone might have gotten fired or something.

In my opinion any channel number would fit in this headline. It seems as though all promos for special reports have nothing to do with the content of that report.

It's almost as if the promo was written without ever seeing the piece before, after, or during production.

I've lost track of how many promos, and teases, have suckered me into watching the newscast only to be disappointed when the story is over.

As I said, this is my opinion. ;-)<P ID="signature">______________
