Lan Roberts RIP

Today in 2005, legendary Seattle DJ Lan Roberts died after a decade-long fight with lung cancer, just 12 days after his 69th birthday.

Lan was an inspiration to a lot of us growing up in Seattle. To this day, to me anyway, the best on air talent i ever had the opportunity to listen to and looking back, made me want to get into this business. I was fortunate enough to have the chance to meet him while he was in Hawaii and was in awe of the fact that someone who was once an idol, became my friend. I'll never forget him and his antics and close personal friends Phil Dirt and the Hollywood Reporter. Wow, how I miss those days of personality and unique entertainment.

I had the pleasure of working with Lan at KOL on Harbor Island. About ten years ago, Pat Hurley and I had dinner with Lan in Dallas, and several years ago Lan and his son came to Aberdeen to attend our client Pig Roast, as did Lee Perkins.

Damn shame to hear about this. R.I.P. I remember listening to him.

P.S. Six years ago? Way to make me look like a doofus.
