Jones died suddenly this morning at UMass Medical Center in Worcester. "Lana Jones was a general assignment reporter for WBZ Newsradio 1030. She joined the station in 1991 as a news writer, editor and fill-in anchor/reporter. She has been part of WBZ’s award-winning coverage of the Priest sex abuse scandal, the crash of John F. Kennedy Jr.’s plane, and the Worcester warehouse fire."

Her husband, Steve, just offered a public statement on his FaceBook page, including a detailed chronology of what happened:

 
Wow so unexpected. I don’t know her but she has been part of almost every day for me for almost 20 years since I’ve heard her on the radio that often. I work near the South Boston courthouse and I have seen her a few times in the distance or sitting in the WBZ sedan she used when big cases are going on there. Condolences to all who knew her.
