Lana Wilder rejoins "Corm and the Coach"

Of course, Corm is a fine, upstanding citizen. I wish him nothing but the best of luck.

Right? I lost count of all the times I got hit with a zinger where I worked:

"You fool!"

"You stupid f---!"

"You crackhead!"

"You degenerates!"

"Are you high?" (his magnum opus)

"They're f--- ups!" (regarding me and another employee in front of a third employee, which I overheard)

This may be the norm in a lot of radio stations or in workplaces of any sort in general...but if these aren't said in jest, with a sense of humor, if they are "face value" epithets, does anyone here honestly believe they are effective, long-term motivational tactics to use with employees?

Absolutely not. And come to think of it I don't think I have ever been spoken to in this manner (without being in jest) at any point in my career. Nor have I spoken to my jocks like that as a PD. It just isn't an effective way of managing. Sure, I have been yelled at and have yelled at employees but at no time have I attacked them personally. It is entirely unprofessional and is a glaring example of poor management style.

There is something about it that attracts the most socially inept people in our society. Thank God I left it.

but did you really leave it?...

you are on some message board for "radio-philes" (myself, being one of them...)

speaking on behalf of the "socially inept", Happy New Year...

Not you, of course! :D

Haven't been in a radio studio since 2001.

But I digress.......
