Lander/Daniels

Gregg Daniels seemed to move right into the vacationing Lander's morning slot today. He even had his own sweepers for his show!

They've been promoing it so he probably wants to make a good showing to the top guys and see if he can land himself a show.. Did Fast Freddy and Sue go along with him? I didn't hear it..

Been gunning for that job for quite some time. Unfortunately Daniels is not a morning man as much as he's dying to be. In truth he is not a personality/afternoon host either. He loves to hear himself talk but has little content in his raps. Not a good listener and talks at his audience without any sort of connection to it.

Freddy and Sue were there. They all talk over each other and poor Sue (who seems like a sweetheart) can't get a word in.

Does anyone else think that Greg Daniels is 3rd tier at best...especially for AM Drive? They all sound like they are constantly auditioning. By the way - is Lander's job at stake..is there a chance he could be let go?

Well, Lander's contract is up at the end of 07, and I doubt the CBS wants to bring him back with that 7 figure salary, and mediocre ratings. I dont know about you, but it really sounds like Lander is mailing it in....there is just nothing special about the show and he doesnt sound like he could care either way. But with that said, I also do not think that Greg, Freddy and Sue are the answer either. While I think that all 3 of them do have talent, they are just not for am drive. Greg is much better in afternoons with Sue, and I am still out on Freddy. He sounds like he wants to be the star too much and likes to take the spotlight away. He would be ok in a contained sidekick role. If I were the powers at CBS, I would be seriously be looking for a proven winner to come in here and make something happen besides old, canned nutcrackers. With all the talent being cut loose around the US, there must be some talent out there.

I think Lander can still have a great show. If he made a few small changes.

Yeah like less yapping...... and more,......no; SOME direction?.

::)

If they had any sack they'd replace him with Patrick Murray ;D If only the show were on at 4:20, you know?

I've got the answer! D-L-R on M-I-X Like a thunderbolt in your cherrios! HAAHAHAHA :D

Lander is a guy's guy and did well with Mr. Leonard and Neal White and the stunt kid, but now he is surrounded by women. He just needs to make some personnel changes. His show is still better than what has been filling in this week

I have to agree with Radioguy - Lander does sound like he's "phoning it in" and as previously mentioned is CBS really getting the return on their dollar considering Lander is supposidly getting seven figures. Definately NOT. Still, that being said, I agree, that Greg, Sue and Fred are not the answer for mornings...It seems like freddie thinks he's a lot more important than he is. Again, I agree with Radioguy he would be ok in a very controlled position. Greg is a pretty good jock (for PM Drive) and Sue is good enough I guess, but I think she is trying too hard to be clever and as a result she sounds like she's trying to be something she's not...and in my opionion she comes off phony sounding. Just my observation.

That show has no structure, it is the most unfocused mess. Estrogen is not the problem whenever I listen it has never had any structure. They ramble on from boring topic to boring topic without resolution of any topic, it is really just rambling on and on and not even entertaining. I disagree with you, I think he is better off now that he has less voices on the air because for a long time it was people stepping all over each other with nothing really to say. Mr Leonard was so 1985. It's been a mess afor a long time and I doubt he could reinvent himself at this late stage or even realizes that he shoud since he has been there so long doing what he's doing. Daniels is another jock who somehow thinks he has soemthing to say but really offers nothing compelling at all.

It's embarrassing to listen to them...it's as if they think everyone cares about Paris Hilton's vacation or who said what on Oprah. Too girrly for me.

So Lander still has time on his contract, what do you do to improve the show for the time being?

Bring in a funny, Jim Norton-type guy, to draw the men (and women with a sense of humor) back in. Having a new voice on the show might be the kick in the butt Lander needs to wake back up. LaQuidara always had plenty of funny people around him on the Big Mattress to keep his show sounding fresh.

He wont do that. At one point he had some five voices on that show and none of them were funny. The biggest question I have would be why does he keep throwing it to Mike Ellis? former tv weathermen are not known as compelling sidekicks. Lander is a legend so I would bet that no one has ever been able to tell him that the 1980's are over and it is time to update his act. That is a reflection of poor prgramming almost more than it is a reflection on Lander. Where has the PD been all these years to step in and say " This show is a mess. Time to update and fix it".

That would take a PD with a spine. You'd be hard pressed to find one of those at CBS these days. They all hope that if they avoid making any decisions (so they can't be blamed for anything) they can follow Greg's footprints into a corp. VP spot, where, if they keep a low enough profile, they can safely live out their lives. ::)

....uuuhhhh...the last time I checked (and to the guy who said the show was too girrly), MIX was a Hot AC that targets women? Why would you care "draw the men back in"??

I'm not saying the show is as good as it was, but Jim Norton type humor would turn-off their P1's.
