It's driving me crazy I know the one song is is called "BANG ON THE DRUM",what is the title of the other
song it has like a middle-eastern type sound???

The one that says "Whaddya Mean It's Last Call?" at the end of the show?

It's a swing band. I want to say Squirrel Nut Zippers...but not certain. I'll ask Doc Thompson, he chose it for the show, and let you know.

So far the answers are correct however I'm talking about the closing theme before the one that is currently
playing this could go as far back to when Webster was part of the show.

Holy crap! I can't stay up till 10 AM to listen to the closing part of the show, I work nights, I gots to gets my sleep when I gets home! I guess I could tape it and listen later.......

VODood, you are incorrect, sir! [apologies to Ed McMahon] It's Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and it's called "You And Me And The Bottle Make 3" and below is a link to lyrics & the song itself.

Technically I wasn't wrong. Re-read my post. I wasn't sure of the title, or the band's name.

Sad too in that I worked there when the song was chosen as the Show Close. It's been used by L&M since roughly 1998.

That is the only show close L&M use.

Now, if you're talking show OPEN....on Friday's it's Todd Rundgren's "Bang The Drum All Day".

Here is an old Lanigan show OPEN... circa 1993-94

Semantics, shemantics! But I'll give it to you. Actually when you've heard one swing band's sound, you've heard them all, at least the current crop of them.

Ok, so now that we have the last 2 L(,W)&M show close themes, let me go back one further:

What was the theme/song that was used when J.R. Nelson would read the "closing credits"?
(This would go back to the early 90's).

Jeez...I have trouble with last week. Good luck!

Back in '98 Doc and I produced LWM show opens for each day of the week. Sadly, I do not have copies of those.

Does Lanigan still run a produced show open? Maybe I'll have to get up early to confirm if he does, and whether it's still the ones from 11 years ago.

Speaking of which, what was the old closing song at the end of the "Flex Club" birthday call-in segment? I know it was a stripper song with "whip it to me" inserted at the end... from 1958 or so. Kinda fun to hear it every day at 7:00am...

Per the Billboard Charts:

The song in question is simply called "The Stripper", a #1 song in the summer of 1962 by David Rose and his Orchestra.

That is the only musical part of the Flex Club that came over from the old WGAR days (that & the SuperFlex shotgun jingle).

Back in the old WGAR, the Flex Club closed out the segment with a medley of songs:

1) A group of singers beginning the medley by singing "Hello Out Therre".
2) Then the first stanza of "The Stripper",
3) Then instead of the modern day "Whip it to me", there was a pause in the music, followed by someone yelling, "ONE MORE TIME!!!!"..
4) A final stanza of "The Stripper", which was a slightly faster version of the song by a different artist,
5) Then the music cuts out, a woman says, "Fresh" (the insulting meaning of the word), then you hear her walking away, followed by a long brassy musical note.

Don't ask me how or why I remember all that after 20-some years!!! ;)

"The Flex Club". Classic Lanigan. I think he should bring it back. It's been gone long enough.

BTW, I've created a John Lanigan Fan Club on Facebook. The "boys" have been talking about it for weeks.

Also, I created a WMJI Fan Club.

Audio, pics, etc on both pages, including WMJI/WIXY Reunion audio.

And, there is a NE Ohio TV & Radio Club on Facebook. I didn't create that one but it's great to talk to others in (and now out) of the business who have a history in C-Town.
