New HP laptop with good ole Vista. What's the latest in USB recording that works well with Vista.Familiar with the Lexicon Omega but not many other products.Looking for something to use on the road or even as an extra prod machine.thanks

I suggest the ZOOM HD2 digital recorder that can also be used as a mic, it can store up to 17 mb of audio in stereo or 34mb mono, we use them for remote broadcasts to record our breaks and then email them back tot the studio for air making Marti's obsolete, plus if I want to get listner audio for imaging, I just unplug and walk around getting comments and they sound freaking great! It will run you about 200 bucks but you might find them on ebay or your favorite gear outpost for a little less. A few hoops to jump through but IMHO a great piece of gear for laptop broadcasts/recording.

Hope that helps

Yep, the Zoom HD-2 works great for that purpose. Plus, it fits in your pocket.

"Is that a Zoom in your pocket? 'Cause I'm happy to see YOU!"
