why is Laquidara always on in Boston on that period of time.

Wasn't it 2008 when he did his last tour of Boston? He was on with Adam (12) Chapman and Sam Kopper that week IIRC. I got to chat with him when he was on with Sam on WATD.

I wonder if he is going to be in town or doing it over the phone.
 
Isn't this time of year BCN's anniversary? Didn't they become prog rock around St Patrick's Day of '68? Every year it seemed they would have an on air anniversary party with the Woofa Goofa presiding

Sam Kopper doesn't think Charles is in town, but if he is Sam promises to get him on WATD Friday night, which last time was a wild time.

Speaking of WATD Joe McMillan is going to do a one time shift down there sometime in the next few months. I hope to sit in on that one.
 
Howie has Brewer and Shipley in 5 pm hr tonight (maybe between 5:30-6) and Charles Laquidara in 6 pm hour. Miss it and you'll have to do the funky chicken. May record it...also RKO site may podcast it?

Howie stations to best of my knowledge (I don't know if they still post it on website; prob not)

I disagree. I thought both Howie and Charles were funny, and did a good job handling each other.

I rarely listen to Howie (or to commercial talk radio in general, whether "conservative" or "progressive"). I learned today that he can actually be respectable toward people with differing points of view or lifestyles from his when he wants to be.

I've heard him many times in the past when he apparently didn't want to be, which turned me off, but that's what gets ratings in that kind of radio.

Before the first caller did you hear him say there would be no interview until his last name was spelled correctly on Howie's home page? "Sandy" had to correct it and he had to see it before he would continue.


Do I think for a moment there was no payola at WBCN because Charles said so? Ya Chuck you blew the pile of coke off the table, produced a pile of your own and never had to be indebted to the record company, while you were taking freebies from anyone who would give you something in return for a mere mention of them on the air? Say what you will about Joe Vig, but I saw the BCN interns selling piles of promo CD's to a used CD store years before I found this site and heard Joe's accusations. The guy who owned the store knew what he was buying and from whom.

Howie calls it Graft, Charles called it barter, the IRS considers it taxable income, and the FCC says you can't do it.

Charles is in a position to call the shots in his interview. He didn't ask to do that interview, Howie (or perhaps a producer) asked him, and he has no need for publicity. He can do it on his own terms, he doesn't need to talk about anything he doesn't want to talk about. I would have also wanted my name spelled correctly if I was him, and apparently it was no problem for her to fix it. Do you really think he would have hung up on Howie if it couldn't have been fixed at that moment? I doubt it! He was purposely acting bodacious and demanding on the air, which helped hook in Howie's listeners with a little drama. I'll bet Howie loved it. This is show-biz!

Ummmm...so? Same thing I would say to Viglione....Who cares?

Ar rather...I would say "good for the interns"!

Vig would spout this stuff thinking it was the end of the world....but nobody cares.

(Was the first caller Vig....aka "The Count"?)

I don't think he still uses tape. I think he loads it onto a drive as an .mp3.

Yes, yes and yes. Newsflash: those things were funny! Radio people like to get on each other's shows and mess around, especially when they have a history as Charles and Howie clearly do.

Humor is very subjective, but that seems to have been the intent. The first caller was what is sometimes called a "crank." And as for who the crybaby is..............Good day!
