Larry Boyer, R.I.P.

KGTV news just reported that Larry Boyer, who used to be a newscaster for the old KOGO-TV, has died from leukemia at 66.

Those of us around San Diego for a while remember Larry from Radio KDEO in the early 60's, when he was the 7-11 PM jock (just ahead of overnight guy Mike Ambrose!).

Larry's son is Chris Boyer, of KGB-FM.

Our condolences to Chris and his family. Anyone who knew Larry will tell you he was a great guy, as well as a fine broadcaster.

Larry was my Broadcasting teacher at Grossmont College back in 1976.

Great guy.

I learned a great deal from him.

Met the love of my life in the class too.
