Former Houston TV reporter, and now former St. Louis anchor Larry Connors has been fired over statements he made about the IRS on his Facebook page.
This comes after a series of events that began when Conners implied on Facebook that he may have been targeted by the IRS after interviewing President Barack Obama last year. In that interview, Conners questioned Obama's travel expenditures.
Conners says his statements on Facebook were simply questions about the possibility of an Internal Revenue Service vendetta in the wake of national stories about the agency.
The IRS claims Conners and his wife owe more than $85,000 in back taxes dating to 2008. He was on a payment plan with the IRS, but after the Obama interview, Conners said the plan was cancelled and in September a lien was placed on their home.
Those of us with long memories remember Connors when he was a reporter at KTRK TV in Houston back in the 70s. Connors and the immortal Marvin Zindler did a series of investigative stories that embarrassed the Governor into closing the Chicken Ranch, the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.
