LARRY DIXON & GAIL LIGHTFOOT DOING MORNINGS ON THE TWISTER?

Excellent team!! Larry did country some years back on KPLX if in fact KTYS stays with
country???. Would probably work good with oldies, also.

This just might be a great pairing if they can get the support they need from management! Therein is the real trick to make it work.

I have always been great fans of both of them.

Jay

Much as I like and respect Larry, his term on the Oasis was not good. He had lots of problems learning the music from scratch, and used such low and non-dulcet tones to fit in with the format, that it was very hard to listen. It sounded like he wasn't having much fun with it. He needs a KVIL-type setup to express his personality...and I feel like he still has it in him to do it all over again, especially if such a change at 96.7 includes Ron (who would give Larry the proper latitude to do his thing.) Larry even struggled a little at KLUV doing Saturday mornings a couple of years back...his style just doesn't work well with liner cards and not being able to 'chat it up.' (And I don't slight him for that...he's a PERSONALITY, not a speaking board op.)

Maybe it will be:

Ron Chapman-Mornings
Larry Dixon-Mid-Days
Scott Shannon-Afternoons

We wish Gail Lightfoot the VERY BEST. She's been an inspiration & darn good traffic person over the years!

Sounds like "The DeamTeams" forming!

Russ just confirmed it. Larry & Gail start mornings on 96.7 on June 23rd. Her last day with Metro and on RMS is June 18. Gavin confirmed that the format IS changing but wouldn't say to what. Even though Larry & Gail were together on The Oasis - my money is on Oldies.

Ok, what's wrong with this picture? A CBS station confirms a Citadel format change? Larry gives up his nice Affiliate Relations Director position with Salem to take a slot at a rimshot, knowing that it could take years to get a slice of Jody's action? And that his job could be history with a couple of bad books? Methinks the older and wiser Larry of today wouldn't bet all his chips on one shaky hand. Also, Larry's already committed to Green Radio for a daily talk show.

I think we're being played here...notice that at least two members of the 105.3 posse have inexplicably come out of the woodwork on here today...

Mike:
Russ was really bashing 1360 yesterday - did you hear any of it?

Wednesday June 18th?

Then theoretically she could go to work on Thursday the 19th? But what kind of idiot would want to start a new employee on a thursday? ::)

HA!! Really?!? Love the publicity, good OR bad...it's all the same. Anyone tape Russ? I would LOVE to hear it!!

I'm not sure which is worse... An overdone, lengthy flip tease, or taking Russ seriously that the flip is coming. And really, June 23rd? What is this, stations feel they need to promote a format change for 1 1/2 months?

Personally I think Russ is just trying to build up an audience. I wouldn't take anything he says, seriously.
