Larry Elder Returns

This is the best double talk I have ever seen....do these two even talk to each other?

“The final piece of the puzzle putting KABC back to a position of dominance in the Los Angeles TalkRadio arena is in place,” proclaims President and General Manager, Bob Moore.

“Having Larry rejoin our station is the first step in returning KABC to the market dominance it has enjoyed,” said KABC Program Director and market veteran, Jack Silver.

So Bob says this is the FINAL PIECE and Jack says this is the FIRST STEP....WOW, these two could run for office!

Well, no FHF final week!

Ho hum! We've been down this road before and it did not end with a blaze of glory.

C'mon, Bob and Jack are good broadcasters and a lot smarter than this move shows. Almost smells like a ticking time bomb set by the gurus in Vegas.

Larry has a loyal following but certainly not large enough to push KABC back into being a major station.

Unless the suits from HQ pushed local management to make this unfortunate move, I am beginning to wonder what happened to the duo in the transition from over at CBS down to LaCienega.

I wish all the best of luck. I'm serious, but my bones tell me this is another step on the road to oblivion for KABC.

As an aside...there is no more "South Central" according to those who are paid to do such things, even though everybody in town knows it IS "South Central." I don't think "The Sage from South LA" has quite the same zing!

Congratulations KABC your string of bad and idiotic decisions made over the past 10 years continues. He proved locally and nationally that he could not get ratings and so you bring him back?

I would love to trade him to New York and get Joe Crummey instead. At least Crummey has a sense of humor. Larry is a one trick pony who belives in three positions

1 - Hilary Clinton is bad
2 - Illegal Aliens should be given Amnesty
3 - Hillary Clinton is bad

So KABC wasn't satisfied with the #27th position in the ratings. I guess they are aiming for # 30.

Anyways I hate to be so negative. I'll look on the bright side. At least I get to remove the KABC app on my iphone and now use that slot for another game.

Robin Bertolucci must be falling down after laughing so loud.

SandyG I agree with you. Here is the E-mail I sent earlier today to Don Barrett/LARADIO.COM in regards to the announcement of the Sage's return.

"Don with all due respect to Bob Moore and Jack Silver - I don't think these two people are on the same page....

Bob Moore: “The final piece of the puzzle putting KABC back to a position of dominance in the Los Angeles TalkRadio arena is in place,”
proclaimed president/general manager, Bob Moore.

Jack Silver: "Having Larry rejoin our station is the first step in returning KABC to the market dominance it has enjoyed,” said KABC program director Jack Silver.

WTF??????????

Which is it guys - first step or final piece?

Not exactly a suprise to me Don - I found out 2 weeks ago that the Sage was coming back. Good for Larry. At least it is local show for now. In a few months Citadel Media will trot him out for syndication for the second or third time (lost count) as the next Rush, Sean et al.

And in my sincere and honest opinion whiny, nasally, New York accented Mark Levin is NOT a part of an "amazing daytime lineup." And that doesn't take into count his loony right politics. He has the most grating voice on the LA airwaves today.

GOD help KABC if it is ever to be a force in LA radio again. But with a paltry 1.2 share - I guess they have only one way to go. Or do they?"

Here is the problem with Larry...ANYONE that says "Obama is going to go down as the worst President in the history of the USA" is an F'ing MORON. The right side (which he is on) has such a horrific memory problem. I like some of the stuff Larry stands for, but that one little statement in his bio makes me want to NEVER tune in to KABC again. The fact that NO ONE wanted to join his podcast service (his page wasn't updated for over a year) and no other station picked him up over the past two years says that he is worth what he is worth...and I am guessing they got him for the same deal they were paying FHF.

Bad move. Moving backwards is moving at least.

Sandy, to say that you will never tune to KABC again just because of that one statement is as ridiculous as you say his position on the President is. The big danger I see with talk radio hosts is that one of them might form a posse of listeners that believe everything they say, read Rush's "Ditto Heads". The only reason I listen to talk radio is to hear differing opinions on what is happening in the world around me.

Saw Larry on KTLA this morning. Looked really good. Nice suit. Pleasant tie. Big smile. But when he opened his mouth, he revealed that he is still the same Democrat-bashing right-winger he has always been.

He will fit in nicely with out-of-towner, out-of-touch Hannity and Levin. (Levin needs a translator and a voice transplant. Even then, he would be unlistenable.)

I have this strong feeling that Moore and Silver are puppets in the hands of the radio experts in Las Vegas, shoving their syndicated ap-cray down the throats of local management to save a few bucks on talent--along with any chance of KABC returning to the days when it was important. Now it's just another also-ran, right-wing station under the very significant shadow of KFI.

Larry vs. Rush? Yeah, right. Rush already has the dimwitted, and very few will leave their favorite bloviator to listen to Larry--local or not. Rush proves syndication works with the right "talent," who also happens to be a former Top 40 jock and knows how to play the radio game. Most other satellite talk shows appeal only to a tiny sliver of the available audience.
