It was announced earlier tonight on the 5pm news. That Larry Estepa reporter/anchor for WJAR/WLNE & a station
in Dallas Texas. Is leaving WJAR for Atlanta.
Atlanta's gain to be sure, but not necessarily WJAR's loss. At this stage in the game, it doesn't seem like anything can dislodge Channel 10 from local news ratings dominance.
Basically, when Southern New Englanders look at at TV set, they are looking at a "Channel 10"......to paraphrase the late Sherm Strickhouser.
Good Luck to Larry. Unfortunately I always felt that he was a little to uptight on the air. I would have liked to have seen him loosen up once in a while. But it was very seldom that he would even crack a smile. I only saw him laugh out loud once and it was a few years back when the Sports anchor was showing a baseball game. A bird flew by the pitchers mound as the pitch was thrown. The ball hit the bird and feathers flew all over the field. They came back to the newsdesk and Larry was laughing out loud like never before. It made me laugh too because the one and only time I've ever seen Larry laugh is when that bird was killed. I wish I had that on tape. I would upload it to youtube. LOL. So I know the easy going humorous side of Larry is in there somewhere. I just wish it would have come out more.
Well enjoy Atlanta Larry and much success to you in the future!

I think Larry had some health problems. Good luck to him and maybe we'll see him for a third go sometime.
