Larry Grant - KMGL

Okay, y'all, I'm a little slow on the uptake, but of course I don't bother to listen to the radio much anymore; and right now, I have my car radio out being repaired, so I'm not even listening to CDs or old airchecks, just the wind and the rumbling motor and the squeaking brakes! And I listen to the radio so rarely I've even forgotten to come to these boards in months!

Anyway, I've just now noticed that Larry Grant's gone from KMGL. Is he an off-air Production Director for the cluster now, or is he a casualty?

That would be sad if he's been let go. He's been on Magic for years. I remember listening to him on KJ-103 waaaaay back in the day.

He retired from the biz and went to Lawton. As this business becomes more unenjoyable more and more truely talented people will choose to just find something to do instead. That's certainly a reason why the industry will continue it's listenership errosion.

Good news about losing great people from the biz. Clearchannel announced premium programming choices today. Problem solved.

JournalGuy, I hoped you were wrong. I WANTED you to be wrong.

You're not:

http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/content_display/news/local-broadcast/e3i76ad91ab65e65f6d3a14862beb5fea17

"We see enormous longterm opportunity in investing in things that immediately improve the competitive situation of our stations."

That's the best double-speak I've ever heard, for "we're going to make it easier to have a dozen out of market jocks voicetrack all 1,200 of our stations."

I can understand why they're doing it, but you have to live in another world to BRAG about it...
