Where was I... "Hey Dick, did someone post a memo on this. I wanna know why I wasn't told. Hey... maybe he can open BJAM next year. Does Larry like Disco? Is that Larry's new wife with him....It's his daughter"? (Note to self: Post memo demanding to be let in "the loop")

In case you're wondering, here's what the original post refered to:
WSCP secured a country singer named Sean King to visit the station. She is married to Larry King (yes, the Larry King). WSCP's arranged for Larry to make appearances on all the Galaxy morning shows. Clear Channel freaked out, tried to get Larry to visit (I imagine especially for WSYR) and were denied. Here's the best part. B104 is actually airing mentions thanking Larry for stopping by the station, which he never did. How slimey is that. No integrity at all. How can anyone have any repsect for Joel or Rich after pulling that pitiful stunt- Actually lying to their listeners. Someone should email John Hogan with that tidbit of information. That's not even a clever tactic, that's out and out deception. It is that kind of crap that gives broadcasters a bad name. They should be utterly ashamed. Score one for WSCP for pulling off an exclusive and for conducting themselves with a bit of class.

Funny, radio wars is what it's all about... back when.. we used to pull that stuff just to confuse the issue.. OF course I must say today listening to WSCP they (jimmy taylor??) were calling Shawn, Larry's daughter... now thats funny! I did hear a interview with Larry on B104, but I assume it was a canned intertview.. so in reality he was on the air ... Also, in reality it was a foolish move on the record company to NOT stop by. I believe B104.7 is a reporting station. This move could hurt the artist and the label when it comes to "adding" the song.. I don't believe B104 cares if they were on WSCP, but to pass up a reporting station is not a good idea in my opinion... Also, for the record they asked to stop by the CC studios then backed out because "RJ" would be upset... It's been a while since I have been on the programming side, now in sales but I do recall playing these games.. and I must say B104.7 does it right... by the way ask Ed about his games years ago... much worse, oh.. need a tissue.. it's radio!!

I thought the rock wars were fun. First off, John Hogan could care less. He's nothing but an accountant with a title. He doesn't care what happens on the radio until it creates a fine. Also, did anyone have respect for Joel or Rich to begin with? I mean come on, any GM or OM that allows the Dog to continue to broadcast and take up precious electricity is not only incompetent but practically un-American. Do I believe they did it? Yes. Does anybody believe that they really care about this community? No. See the free fall of SYR ratings and see the community caring.

Nice. By the way, Larry King owns. I grew up Miami listening to him on WIOD, I was able to shake his hand and say "Hallandale, your on the air!" and thank him for what he's contibuted to radio. The master of the interview. You all should bow down.

Right because RJ asked for a market exclusive. So, he didn't stop by but B104 said he did. They lied to their audience. See radio wars are all well and good-Lying to the listeners is not.

Far from reality, no one really cares, however it's good to monitor other stations etc.. you know that.. come on. CC is far from the homeless category, it's more the other way around. Also, why would WSCP play a new song when they are All time favorites and the country legends... or what ever it is... does it make sense? NO! As previously mentioned, although it's an "exclusive" RJ has probably ruined the chance for her song to be played where it really counts. Does WSCP count when it comes to adding a new song ... ?? Does LArry King matter to the country format.. simple No! Blah Blah Blah ... here's a tissue...

Time to educate you again... Lofton Creek has a much different business model than the big labels. They have become a profitable little record label, despite never having a hit. They sell more product than other independant labels their size. MUCH more product than necessary to make a more than decent profit. B104 will never play one of their songs. Hell, unless it hits top ten they won't play a large label release so why visit them.

The label did the smart thing and rewarded a guy they like (R.J.) and exposed the song enough to sell some units rather than visiting a station that will never even return their phone calls. Obviously the country audience doesnt care about Larry King, but Joel would have popped a woody to have Larry on WSYR, which is way Mr R.J. did it. He gets some tv exposure for the station and makes the CC folks focus on him, rather than their stations.

And if CC doesnt care about WSCP why do they monitor the station day and night. Get ready cuz that little flanker in Pulaski is gonna shave a couple/three shares off the big dog before the dance is over.

R.J., I bow to you for causing so much distress to the Plum Street princes while getting some much needed press exposure. Nicely done man. Have a beer on me.

There was no distress on Plum St. Turn the tables and RJ would of done the same thing, he learned from the best I am told. Don't know who exactly Lofton Creek is, because I don't handle the programming and I don't care. I can say this they did notify us asking if the station would like a visit from The Kings... then changed their mind when they said RJ would be upset... radio stations always monitor others, but no one said we monitor the station day and night, but are aware of what is going on.. It's obvious the situation upset you guys... maybe that was the intention.. it's radio ... can't take it, then get out. Who said phone calls aren't returned? I think you would be surprised... Numbers for the "little flanker" have gone down... if thats possible.. Good Luck!

Hmmmmm. CC down $796,000, but BDalton gets a bonus check & afternoon off.

So, what's wrong with this picture? Or, how many "prospectors" got bounced so BDalton could pick up their accounts and earn that bonus check?

BDalton is a rookie sales rep who got caught up in the board after hearing older reps talk about it. He tries to pass off like he's some established rep but trust me, I've been around, he's fresh off a college campus with about 2 accounts and 1 blue suit. Sorry to burst your bubble son.

Obviously you have misinformation. Dont just look at the trend, newbie- Take time to actually break down the extraps for May. WSCP is actually on the rise, and B104 was down notably. Lot of phanton cume out there and WSCP will start to get more & more of the credit. Rome wasn't built in a day but construction has begun.

This whole thread began because B104 lied to their listeners and yet you continue to duck that issue. It's shameful- You work for broadcasters of the worst kind, you scumball.

Yup, typical Galaxy guy... "look at the extraps, we SWEAR our stations will get ratings, just give us a couple more months..." So why hasn't Sunny beaten Y yet? I thought the extraps were pointing to that happening about a year ago...
