LARRY KING SAYS PIERS MORGAN "MAY HAVE BEEN OVERSOLD"

here's the entire SNIP from deadline.com

In an interview for BBC Radio 4 in his successor Piers Morgan's native Britain, former CNN host said Morgan was a "fine" host but may have suffered from overhyping. "I think one of the problems (CNN) did was over sell it. He was going to be dangerous, he was going to be water cooler talk," King said. "He's good but not that dangerous. I think they might have been better off starting quietly and that's not Piers' fault, or maybe it is, I'm not inside anymore. He's certainly not bad. He's certainly an acceptable host. He asks good questions, maybe he interrupts a little too much at times. I think he may have been oversold."

YA THINK!

Well, if anything, if the CNN thing doesn't work out, we have a shoo-in for the new host of MSNBC's "Hardball"! ::)

Where is Chris Mathews going?

Unfortunately no where.

Mr. 'Interrupt' is one of MSNBC's sacred cows. Why would anyone would want to appear on his show?
He never lets his guests finish a statement before he rudely interrupts their train of thought. It's one of many reasons I don't watch his program.

It is so inappropriate for a former host to be criticizing his predecessor. It shows a lot of sour grapes, etc.

I couldn't agree more. Bob Barker made some comments recently that were critical of Drew Carey. Now this from Larry King. Why can't these people just go away and shut up? I guess you could blame the hosts/reporters/whoever is asking them these questions too.

...for all his actual faults (and there seem to have been quite a few, that role in The Running Man wasn't too much of a stretch for him), it's interesting to note that we haven't heard one word out of Richard Dawson about any of his successors as emcee of Family Feud...

It may or may not be relevant here, but King made no secret of the fact that he had another man in mind as his successor and lobbied privately with CNN management, and publicly to the media, to get Ryan Seacrest the gig.

The CNN management team opted for Morgan. Those managers have since been canned and a new crew is running the place. Will the new brass give the show a lot of time to prove itself? Who knows? One thing we can say is that they aren't personally invested in the success of Morgan, or anyone else on the prime time lineup, all of whom are prior hires.

It should be called "Dot Dot Dot" as a throwback to his old newspaper column. (If not the language he helped to invent - you know, Morse code.. ::) )
