News8 in the late 80s
All great people, but one of the WORST anchor teams in the History of San Diego!
A sports guy who didn't do hocky (and seemed to hate sports), a weatherman who'd rather tell jokes than do the weather, plus a revolving door of side-kick female anchors (one who was always depressed, another who yelled at people and smoked like a chimney, and a third who, lets just say it, won't be teaching at Harvard anytime soon).
Stan Miller's hair back then looked like a helmet he could replace, and Hal Clement, though one of my favorite people in San Diego, Just didn't mesh.
And don't forget those hideous graphics they had (is it too early blam Chyron for those?) Plus the most lifeless news intro package I've ever heard!
All great people, IMHO, but AWEFUL chemistry!
I think the set up they had just before Loren and Hal defected to KGTV, was the best they had before KFMB fired everyone else, and went to the new fast pace setup they have now.
I do miss Mitch Duncan, and it's too bad what happened to him. His health went down so fast nobody even saw it comming.
