Larry Taylor, bassist for Canned Heat, dead at 77

We overlooked him last month, but he died August 19 of cancer. He was the bassist for Canned Heat during their "classic" years (1967-70), and also was a prolific studio musician, playing on several Monkees albums among many others. He also spent time with John Mayall and Tom Waits.

He was a member of Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart's band, the Candy Store Prophets, and played on some of their early songs, including their first hit, Last Train to Clarksville, prior to joining Canned Heat.
