The Winnipeg Free Press says:
CBC Radio Manitoba has parted company with afternoon radio host Larry Updike.
In a prepared statement released Tuesday, CBC Radio said Updike and the CBC came to a mutual agreement to end their three-year working relationship on the show Up to Speed.
Updike posted Tuesday morning on his Twitter feed that his contract ended and that CBC Radio wanted to do something different with the afternoon radio show.
Updike had been a radio personality at CJOB but in 2009 he left the airwaves to become the senior spokesman for Siloam Mission. After about a year in that position, he chose to return to radio with CBC.
CBC said in the statement that the Up to Speed job opening will be posted and it hopes to have a new afternoon radio host in place by early September or sooner.
