Lars Larson Is Off Westwood One

All Access is reporting Lars Larson has been dropped by Westwood One. Since Lars had some decent major markets and a strong 185 affiliates, I wonder if this was a move by Dennis Green to try to secure more outlets for Fred Thompson's new show? There is no way Thompson had kept all of O'Reilly's 300+ stations (and based on what the show sounds like now, he is probably in trouble) so this must be a move in order to boost his affiliate count and ad rate values?

I caught only part of one of Larson's programs as I drove across the country about one year ago and it certainly wasn't impressive. Based on, admittedly, a very short sample his show seemed pretty lame.

thompson was boring as a candidate, I can't see him doing well, at least lars had some energy, and who will fill the scandanavian niche market? I hope the swedish bikini team does not consider suicide as a result of this bad news.

I always listen to Lars when I drive my volvo to Ikea to buy fondu supplies for my smorgasboard/sauna bath parties.

Gee, one bore without an original thought replacing another bore without an original thought. What a shock.

Just the changing of the guard in talkradio.

Where are all the hosts who think themselves and don't worry about custom-fitting arguments to support a partisan agenda?

And people say that the LA times article about talk radio taking a hit was a hit job, when a top talent like Lars Larson is dumped like yesterday's swedish meatballs you know things are melting down.

Top talent?

Did somebody say TOP talent?

Top shelf, Yes, Lars was like gourmet pickled herring on a high quality rye cracker, why they would dump him to make way for a phoney like Thompson is crazy. A corporate lawyer and Washington lobbyist who pulls a "just folks talking around the kitchen table with the hound dog scratching himself routine,"
give me a break.

I will express my outrage, next time the Lars Larson fan club meets in the sauna bath.

thank god Compass meda has signed Lars, it doesn't say how many stations he will be on. what does this do to westwood's plan to clear the decks for hound dog Fred Thompson? Of course it will make a big difference who is on the radio saying the same thing as everyone else.

thompson is boring, no energy, talks too slow and will support politicians and the established washington order too much. I'm glad to see stations are not going to be suckered by a politician, Bill Bennett bores me too, smart, but boring.
