Las Vegas Country battle

The Las Vegas Country battle is heating up! Since November of last year, KCYE has been on a big upward trend. If the trend continues, KCYE will have at least a 2-1 advantage over KWNR in every key demo for the January book - which arrives on Thursday of this week. In fact, KCYE will most likely be the #1 station with women in Las Vegas (even out performing Sunny, Mix, and other stations targeting women). Clear Channel's strategy of saving money by voicetracking and firing great local talent like Mark Stevens, Bob Bishop, Mitch Kelly, and more seems to be backfiring. Bob Bishop just joined his friend Mitch Kelly at KCYE a couple weeks ago. In fact, I think he's on the air right now on 102.7. I personally have nothing against the people at Clear Channel Las Vegas but I’m very much against what their company has done to our industry. KCYE is taking advantage of KWNR’s weakness of few live and local jocks with their imaging and I commend them for it. If you fire all local talent to save money, you deserve to lose. Stay tuned. I will try to get my hands on the Jan book ranker by Thursday afternoon for you to see.
 
Mitch Kelly may not want to blow his own horn so I'll do it for him.

He had killer ratings at at KWNR when they fired him. Why? Who the hell knows. But I do know the morning ratings tanked after that. He had told me once that a new GM came in and never even introduced herself to her No.1 morning man.
CC may not care about losing numbers since the cutbacks cause they my be saving money but in the long run who knows?

Trouble is all those honchos who cause so much pain and misery ususally come and go....often wiith a golden parachute.
There is no justice.
