This is a historic trend to see KXNT #1 12+. This is the first time in at least 30 years when an AM was #1 12+ in a book or trend in Las Vegas. At least 29 years for sure, I started following LV radio ratings with the Fall 79 book when 97 KORK-FM was #1 with their Easy Listening format. Only FM stations have been #1 12+ from then until now.

It would be all the more historic if KXNT could maintain this for the book. It will come down to if KSNEs Christmas bounce is bigger than KXNTs election bounce. In 25-54 KXNT is #8 which is good for an AM. I still say if they simulcated on FM they would be top 5 25-54 and often repeat as #1 12+.

Why did KXNT get a big election spike but not KDWN? I would love to read anyone's opinion on that. Why is KXNT doing so much better than KDWN? Is it just simply because they have the bigger shows, the "voices you know" or are there other factors? It's surprising to see KDWN with numbers far more similar to little KDOX (who had a mini election spike of their own) than KXNT.

I have some thoughts on the music stations, but this is long enough for now. Any opinions on the talk battle?

Color me clueless here, but I kept thinking that 93.1 would start to do something positive. I'm still pulling for Rik and the gang over there but I wonder how long before a flip?

Anyone have P18-34 numbers?

18-34 numbers are not available in Arbitrends

Yes, they are available, in fact. And here they are....
KLUC
KISF
KVEG
KMXB
KXTE

Trends in the diary system are 12+, 12-17. 18+, 18+ men, 18+ women, 18-34, 25-54, 35-64 and 35+.

The PPM weeklies adds 18-49 plus men and women on 18-34, 25-54 and some other useful demos

I can tell you why KDWN has seen nothing numbers wise. Beasley is in love with has been washups! From Mike O'Brian on KKLZ to Tom Hum the GM. They love their; "I've been in Vegas since it was a whistle stop..." guys and gals.

KDWN is a crappy crappy station. The news in the morning is horrible. Just listen all you need are ears. Its so confusing when they cram 10 stories into 5min and then go to the Glenn Lerner traffic center for 10 seconds of traffic and 30 seconds of sponsorship!

KDOX will soon over take KDWN in the fall book with its little signal and staff. When will Beasley wake up? I loved Steve Garvey on the Dodgers but he had to be traded to San Diego. Same goes with so called "Players" in the Vegas market.

PS You can include Heidi Harris in the whistle stop mentioned above about washups. Keep hiring proven failures guys. You can control them to do your bidding and bring you zero ratings! GOD BLESS.

No Beasley stations in the top 10 18-34 and only one station (KKLZ) in the top 10 25-54.

I was surprised to see KKJJ do so well P18-34. Great November for them.

I believe this is the lowest 25-54 ranking for KWNR in their 18 year country history. But they will be dropping off a shockingly low September before the Fall book comes out. So they could move up several rankings, especially considering how compressed together so many stations are. COYOTE doesn't sound like they are playing to win, but if their goal is to be spoiler they are playing the role well right now.

Any thoughts on the aging of the Country audience in Las Vegas? The country audience is old here, more so than even a few years ago. This is happening nationally, but it's more extreme here. It's somewhat surprising considering the youth of artists such as Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood. I did read one article that said Country does better 18-49 and even 18-34 with PPM, we'll eventually see if that's true here.

Any thoughts on why FRESH is doing so poorly? They sound good to me, they are easy to listen to, I especially like their jingle package. I think their problem is they are too in the middle and don't stand out in any way. This is the exact same situation their predecesor KSTJ was in a decade ago when they were at 105.5. They were a low rated Warm AC with a generic mix of music right in the middle of the format spectrum. Then in 2000 they went all 80s (which was considered a radical move at the time) and it was huge right out of the gate. It came down to earth but still got decent numbers for years, long after most radio people were tired of it. If JACK never arrived I wouldn't be surprised if 102.7 would still be "80s and more" to this day.

If FRESH stays at this ratings level I wonder if they wouldn't be better off shifting back to some kind of a retro format? Maybe 80s-early 00s with an alternative lean?
