Las Vegas loses its dance station

nd2023

Sorry to bring you bad news, but I've just been informed that KVBE 94.5 "The Vibe" is being sold and the new owners are flipping it to an AC format. No more Vibe in Vegas :-(

It was good while it lasted, I'm glad I was able to hear it 2 weeks ago. Hope Vegas gets another dance station soon, and the new station won't be located out in the Moapa Valley.

Damn! Thats really unfortunate, and I was going to go to Vegas next month. I wanted to listen to this station across the Strip... :(
The sad thing is that since 93.1 The Party stopped its house mixshows... now I don't think there will be a place for dance in Vegas :( Hopefully KLUC starts adding dance to their mixes... don't know if they'll do it since they're highly rhythmic...

The new owners are....

Your a sucker.

Not likely. I have heard that only the daytime format will be adjusted. The night is supposedly staying as is.

Let's cross our fingers. The new owners are really nice and have great experience in radio. Besides, who else would let me play whatever I want on Saturday nights?

Consider yourself lucky then I guess. You're in a job that is hard to get into and even if you're in it, it doesn't pay squat. So what's the point of it all? I will not accept a less than 50 k a year job.

Icy said, "I will not accept a less than 50 k a year job."

WOW! A wannabee in radio seeking "permanent unemployment."

Ha, that's funny. PD's and Jocks can be replaced with a computer that I can buy at Wal-mart for $600. It's hard for a college educated radio engineer to pull in 50k a year. And stations have to have an engineer either on staff or on a contract basis, to fix the satellites and computers that they use to replace their PDs and Jocks. So, I wish you luck in your 50k job search.

I might have been a little too optimistic about the new owners. I have since heard the plan was to get the station running just well enough to generate a little revenue, and then unload the station. We are slowly getting listeners but VERY slowly. I don't think the owners have ever heard the word 'promotion', or if they have, they have forgotten. Not too mention, I don't tend to trust anyone who doesn't even listen to their own station. I have since tried to make friends with only the engineer. He seems like the only one who really knows what is going on. Still crossing my fingers, The Dirty DJ-Maze

DirtyDJ,

I was in Vegas for the NAB and I listened to the station for at least 2 hours.....the new booster has greatly improved your "strip signal". The format sounds good and I think your format might have traction in Vegas. That booster's only been on since November...you need more time. You need to get your listeners to complain to the FCC about that 94.7 translator. Hang in there.

Kevin

Well, one thing Vibe lost is their VO guy, Mitch Craig. I'm hearing some other guy doing their TOH and other cuts.

Thank YOU Kevin, I will hang in there as long as they will let me. I love doing the show and love the feedback I get from people that I meet. One day, dance music will take its rightful place on the air full time. I'm sure of it.

las vegas dance station is still on i listen to it on my ipod i have check the website its blank no listen live if you go to radio time you can listen to the vibe in las vegas.

Hey Icykool,
As a radio enthusiast, I Wonder if anyone has yielded to you talent and salary and hired you???

Signed,
Concerned

The station is coming along quite nicely. It's clear on the strip, they seem to be making more of a presence in Vegas, the booster definitely is helping, and it sounds like the new owners really want to make this station sound good and be successful. Give this station some more time, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it teetering its way into the Top 10. Again, it is heading in the right direction, and will only get better from here... just allow for a little more time!
