Las Vegas Radio

Hey there. I've been a long time poster on Radio-Info and I love this site especially with the new look. I live in Michigan and I am coming to Las Vegas for a week later this month. What can I expect to hear on the radio? What are the most popular stations? Which ones aren't worthy of a listen? Are there any pirates operating in Vegas right now? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Expect to hear radio in Market #32 that still sounds like they were still market #70. My choice picks for good sounding radio (at least, in my opinion) in LV would be Hot 97.5 (Rhythmic CHR) and Area 108 (107.9; Alternative), although the latter still has somewhat of a weak signal in the city.

not saying i know this situation for a fact, but it seems there are a lot of non-working radio geeks that like to come on here and put down local radio. There is a lot of good talent out here in Las Vegas. So give it a shot, turn on the radio when you get here, and listen, you'll like what you hear, and if not, then you've made that decision for yourself.

You can make that same statement about every market. In fact, I'm amazed to hear how bad some of the jocks are in LA....and that's market #2! I think that Vegas has some great talent in this market with a fairly diverse selection of stations compared to most other metros. Is there room for improvement? Of course there is!! But the same can be said for most markets.

Go to a casino...have a drink or two..then go to a phone booth and call KDWN 720am on their talk line...it is unscreened....then make a crank call...not vulgar or threatening ...just stupid....at night your voice will go out over 9 or 10 western states...50k signal...they are about to go to a sports format so this is your last shot...and this will be more fun than losing at the tables or eating a fatty buffet...have fun

Dunno if i'm gutsy enough to do that!! I have heard about KDWN changing formats very soon, so I planned on taking a trip to their Fremont Street studios (if they're still there) and trying to score some KDWN swag. I honestly don't know how much time i'll have to listen to the radio out there. Letalone crank call KDWN. :-X But based on my musical tastes and what i've read, i'll probably listen to KLUC 98.5 and KVGS 97.5 the most. Does Vegas even have a mainstream CHR? From what i've read it looks like mostly Spanish, Classic Rock/Hits and Hot AC.

they never seem to have anything like a bumper sticker, t shirt etc. they are still on the 2nd floor of the Plaza...which is in a time warp...too...even though they have been remodeled a bit....(could be torn down) I won a drip watering system from them a while back.....do try listen to 1230am ...they have a couple of good music programs ...if you can find them

in my opinion, if its between kluc and kveg, you'll like kluc better. a lot more personality, and a better variety of music. more top 40 than just all hip hop, and the more time progresses, the more top 40 they are becoming. how often do rhythmic top 40 stations play james blunt, green day, or natasha beddingfield? just my opinion, great morning show, too.

The KLAV's of the world are the best place to win stuff. Hosts desperate for callers giving away all kinds of good stuff, and few competitors are calling against you.

Listen to Mark & Mercedes on KMXB (94.1). They're not bad, but the show lacks direction. Sadly, they're the best in the market. LF
