Las Vegas Tunes Into Elvis and the Temptations

Found in Tom Taylor's Newsletter under:

Those pre-Memorial holiday format changes started yesterday.

Las Vegas got an oldies station again (they're calling it classic hits) when Beasley's classic rock KKLZ dropped out of its battle with Lotus-owned KXPT. This was so nose to nose, they're almost next door neighbors on the FM dial. (KKLZ's at 96.3 and the Point's at 97.1.)

Havent listened to it (almost on the other side of the country) but it looks good. Can this really be called a "CLASSIC HITS" station though? The typical Classic Hits format usually plays mostly 70s and early 80s rock with little variety, but a little more mellow than a Classic Rock. Some play Album cuts. According to yes.com they're playing a lot of the likes of My Guy, Do Wah Ditty, Hang on Sloopy, Reach Out/I'll Be There, Cherry Cherry, Land of 1K Dances, This Magic Moment (Jay and Americans), You Can't Hurry Love, etc. Looks like Oldies to me, mix of 60s and 70s.
