Las Vegas Winter Ratings

I'm very surprised to see some different players this time around. Sunny kept the X-mas numbers and the overall lead. The two country stations are battling it out at 7th and 8th place with a virtual tie. The two spanish stations are also battling it out at 2nd and 4th. KLUC drops a little, while VEG picks up that bit. Mix also seems to lose some ground. One of the biggest winners seems to be the AM news/talk station, KXNT, where they beat out everyone except spanish and sunny, settling in at 3rd place.Your thoughts?

I also heard that Coyote actually beat KWNR in the money demo of 25-54, so it will be interesting to watch this battle. And Coyote still has no PD! Heard they hired somebody out of upstate New York to have him take the job and then 4 days later decided against it. So for a station with no direct leader, it's doing well against the heritage one. Anyone have idea's on who Beasley is talking with about this position?

It looks like Coyote is doing pretty well with no PD. It's no small wonder that no one has taken the job yet, who wants to be next after the first two guys lasted a matter of days.

That is wrong information that COYOTE beat KWNR 25-54. It was close, but KWNR was ahead by almost a share. KWNR is #5 25-54 and KCYE is tied for 8th. What's interesting is that a large gender gap has developed. KWNR is still very solid with women 25-54 (#2 behind sister station SUNNY) while COYOTE is #10 in 25-54 females. KWNR did take a big hit in males, COYOTE now leads with men.Any theories on this wide gender gap? The music on the two stations are similar. My guess is the COYOTE station voice (with the heavy "old west" accent), the Coyote howl, and the negative attacks may appeal to men but turn off many women listeners.

could high gas prices ..fewer road trips...impact ratings...

Since ratings are done on a weekly basis (each diarykeeper is only a diarykeeper for a week) the chances of any participants being away at any one time is very small. Not, in fact, significant enough to impact the ratings (and, in any case, the impact would be on PUR, not on share). If you refer to listeners from outside the market that listen to local radio while visiting in Las Vegas, they count in their market of residence, not in the Las Vegas book. If they come from LA, the listening is recorded in LA diaries, where it would be insignificant. I looked at the last LA Maximiser, where every station getting a diary mention is listed, and there were no mentions for Vegas stations. Same for Phoenix.
