last day of rock at free fm???

I remeber there has been a lot of rumurs on free fm that they will not play rock music next year. Does anyone know if this is the last day of free rock weekends?

I don't think so. Danni just became Music Director for the Free Rock weekends and K-Rock 2 on the internet. I bet it's safe for now.

For the time being it sounds like music will remain on weekends. There is no telling how long CBS will allow that to go on. The funny think is that the last numbers showed music trending higher than talk during the week but cbs is too committed to the freee fm talk concept to dump it for a while at least.

The Phoenix Free FM recently dumped almost all of the rock on weekends and overnights and I have to say it makes the stations sound better because how you can promote a station as a alternative talk station when you play rock music? They started airing best ofs overnights and weekends with a handfull of new local shows. Nice to hear something different on the radio. I am surprised NYC Free FM dosen't run the Carolla show either at night or after O&A. Its funny cause on the Carolla show she gets callers from NYC who check out his show on the net. I would push for very limited amount of rock and more talk for Free FM

Are you talking about Phoenix, AZ? You know, the market that has an Active Rocker (KUPD), Modern Rocker (KEDJ), and a heritage Rocker (KDKB)? ::)

Yep I am and that is why it didn't make sense when they switched from alternative rock to talk last year that they kept the rock. Free FM's should focus on hot talk and sports in my opinion.

NYC currently doesn't have ANY current-based Rock station.
92.3 has also has been known as NYC's Rock station for a long time now.
It made sense for the station to keep the Rock music, at least part of the time.

Considering that CBS' biggest money maker not just in the market but the entire country is WFAN, there's not a chance in hell you'll see a dedicated sports show on 92.3 Free.

However - the last time CBS did hot talk in NYC, they had an assload of infomercials and best-of's on the weekends. Not good. If Mainelli was smart, he'd try to take a page of out New Jersey 101.5's playbook - talk all week, music all weekend. It would work if the music was focused enough.

Do they do music on weekends on NJ 101.5 too? Their talk is soooo bad. jersey guys have moments but that relationship show at night is cancer!.

101.5 plays music from 7PM Friday night to 11PM Sunday Evening.

As for the relationship show, which one? In the past 12 months, there was Mary Walter, then a cavalcade of guest hosts, then Dena Blizzard, and then Michele Pilenza.

well it looks like theres no more overnight rock... I am getting worried about this comming weekend....
