Last night's South Park (spoiler warning)

On last night's South Park episode, Obama won, McCain lost, and the whole town went crazy. In the meantime, Obama and McCain tried to steal a diammond from The Smithsonian. With the complex story line with the diammond heist, surely the episode was not slapped together in 8 hours. Was there an alternate episode made if McCain had won?

The South Park people are pros when it comes to "timely" performing. One example is an episode that aired in January 1999, "Prehistoric Ice Man", where a guy wakes up after being frozen, in the year 1999, and a TV reporter says on the news, "And they've done it! The Atlanta Falcons are going to the Super Bowl"! (Note the episode aired before before the Super Bowl featuring said Falcons.)

I think the basic A storyline (the one featuring Obama & McCain) was already written, with only the 2 switching places depending on who won. I suppose Cindy McCain would've replaced Michelle Obama's role had McCain won. Or Maybe Palin would've been the one that showed up at the oval office looking for McCain, while Michelle had the role Palin ended up getting.

The b-story, the one featuring the south park people either partying or going into hiding probably had an entirely alternative script for a McCain win. Probably rioting, afterall it still had to fit into the a-story's plot.

Outside that you can tell it was put together that very day. The Obama speech for uses parts of Obama's real speech.

Regardless of what you think of this show (I love it) the ability of these two to put together an animated show with material that was clearly less than 24 hours old is stunning. They couldn't have known what Obama's stage was going to look like more than a few days in advance. They CERTAINLY didn't have his speech down until he gave it the night before.

I suppose they had two storylines ready just in case McCain won, but I think most of the show would have held either way.

It was BRILLIANT!
