Last Week For Howard

What are everyone's thoughts on Howard Stern's last week on the radio?
I can't help but post this because no one else has brought it up.
Love him or hate him, let's hear some opinions.
This is History for sure as this is the LAST week Howard will be on free radio!

Earth radio's loss is Satellite's gain. I'm not ready to ante
up for what Sirius and XM are offering, but I'll miss Howard.
As you said, love him or hate him, he revolutionized morning
radio in America. And he set the standard for other syndicated
shows to get "real money" from local affiliates. Prior to Stern
everything was barter. Rush Limbaugh and that psycho crank Doctor
Laura should be kneeling before the Shrine of Stern giving thanks
for the money they earn because he opened the door. My best wishes
to Howard and his gang of misfits, malcontents and retards as they
go on the bird to give the bird to the FCC and the religious right.

my guess for the future is that the Fcc will try to find a way for indecency on satellite...

True, the FCC claims they have no intention of it, but the same pressure groups who have been hounding the FCC and Stern's sponsors are already setting up for the attack on Sat. Radio, not to mention there's been more than one headline about people/groups trying to get the FCC to change it's stance on Sat. Radio, Sat. TV & Cable regulations. They need to find a better hobby and give up the power trip they are on.

HAHAHAHAHAAHAHHHHAAAAHHAHAHAHA... oh you are serious....

Lets see.... 3/4ths of the nation knows little about Stern. On the other hand, bascially the whole country knows of Rush Limbaugh.

Gee, who owes whom?

I can see Sterns show now... people will get real bored of it fast. No limitations? Thats half of the fun... the limitations and tip toeing around them.

Is that based on actual research, or are you pulling numbers out of your ass? I have a hard time believing that only 1 in 4 people is aware of Howard Stern, especially with the glut of recent media coverage about him.

Funny thing is that people in New York forget about your so called fly over country. Yes I pulled a number out.... I ESTIMATED. Perhaps I am wrong. If you dont live on the coasts you really dont know (or care) much about Howard. He has fewer outlets than Al Franken!

List of Stern "affiliates" http://www.howardstern.com/stations.html

My guess would be that more people have heard of Howard than have actually heard his show. First time I'd ever heard his show was last fall, and I'd known who he was since 1992....

I live in Memphis and the Stern show doesnt do that well here. It hasn't done better than a 3 share here. But plenty of people are aware of him. Actually more people here seem to watch his E! show than listen to him. I think he gets more exposure from his tv show.

Until satellite radio is allowed to support local channels (like satellite tv can now) I will refuse to buy it. I'd rather listen to the 100 aircheck tapes that I have of eddietrunk (especially his old wnew days), fingers metal shop, dee snyders house of hair, wccc, and k-rock while I am traveling around especially while I am in vt.

I am sure other dj's around the nation have mentioned him.
secondly his show on E many people watch around the country
third his movie Private Parts
fourth his music album to the movie
lastly, in the past he has been added/dropped in some markets across the country.

based on this I think half the people in the country know of him a little bit more than barely. you may agree or disagree with me I'd figure i'd throw in my opinion.

Thats a good point I had not considered.

Ha! Who's giving who the bird? It looks like Stern got the bird. He's the one going to satelite. A lot of people outside New York have never heard of Stern unless they happened to see him on TV. Stern was only on a handful of stations anyway, so nobody in mid America give's a hoot. To the rest of the country, he's just a "disk jockey" pretending to be more important than he is by shooting off his mouth, telling fart jokes and interviewing strippers instead of playing records. I've heard his show, zzzzzzz, didn't think much of it. Why this guy has such high ratings in New York, I'll never figure out.

God, I hope so, then maybe we won't have to put up with so much crap cluttering up the cable channels. (and yes I know I can change the channel and don't have to watch it, and yes I DO have too much time on my hands)

He was good at one point but ESPECIALLY since his divorce from Allison, he has mailed it in big time

You'll see Sirus add at least a million subscribers between January 9 and the 4th of July, and maybe more..people are going to need their Stern ''Fix'', and they won't be able to find it anywhere else..and David Lee Roth will not now or ever be the answer for CBS Radio..

Stern will start making news once he's on the Sirus bird..and plenty of people who swore they could do without will find their way back into the family..

Stern's markets dwindled after Beasly, Cumulus and Clear Channel dumped him for various reasons once he signed the Sirus deal earlier this year..he was avaliable in every time zone, and most of the top 50 markets..and the ''E'' show was a tremendous vehicle..as is the ''On Demand'' channel, which is a must for any Stern fan..

Funny, but I don't see Limbaugh, or any other radio folk for that matter, doing Leno, Letterman, SNL, ''The Daily Show'', ''The Today Show'' or anything else on a regular basis..Stern owns that distinction...no one else..
