I remember back in the days when we still had Rock 97.5, I saw a billboard that read something like this. Rock 97.5 to move to 103.7 by the FCC. What did this mean?

but why did that billboard say the FCC did the change or something like that?

I believe that was just a promotional gimmick.

I saw that too...also when KAYD in Beaumont moved from 97.5 to 101.7 they did the same thing...since both are owned by Cumulus, maybe someone in legal thought they HAD to do it....(but I find nothing in Part 73 that requires it)....It was primarily to let the listener know "HEY we are moving and if you dont find us on the old channel, you KNOW where to look"....sometimes the listener needs to be hit by a 2x4 because the DJs talking about it on the air sure doesnt sink in a lot of times :)
