LATEST AUSTIN ARB (WINTER PART 1)

Wow... KFMK is above a 4.0, that a first in a long time for them. :) Mix 94.7 is wayyy down, so sad.:-[

KPEZ (102.3 the River) really should consider changing formats. They are not getting any better! Sorry to say, but its true.

bob seems like it's been flat, kfmk has really been risen up klqb went down.kgsr is also flat. sports ktxx beating out kvet am. oldies 92.5 no rating. kxbt went down from 2.2 to .09. some minor high rating stations: kkmj, khfi, klbj-fm, klzt looks be able to rise up in the next book or so.

i do listen oldies station / with some classic rock that i listen sometimes and one other am station, i used to listen to bob-fm and still try it out bob-fm from time to time and my own cd's.

KFMK 4.0 no DJ's? Wow thats crazy. I wish they had DJ's! I'd like to see how well the big talker is doing? I wonder if its doing any better than 106.7 in San antonio?

But Jras, they do have DJ's - Ryan Seacrest. ;D

By the way, the Big Talker is not doing any better than 106.7. If possible, they appear to be doing worse.

The Big Talker's been on the air for five months. Plus, it also flipped from REGIONAL MEXICAN! It just needs time.

With all the stations flipping to OR starting fresh on FM across the country AND SUCCEEDING, I still can't believe the ignorance of some people.

Talk on FM IS the future, which is NOW! Period.

To a certain extent you are correct. However, in some markets such as Austin and San Antonio, FM Talk doesn't work. As you well know, FM Talk has been on the air in SA for almost a year and it's listeners is less than 100,000 and that's stretching it. SA metro is over 2 million people. This station is one of the lowest rated FM stations since they flipped. Austin FM Talk isn't doing any better either.

It doesn't matter if a talk format is on FM if it sucks. I've listened to 989 the big talker and IT. IS. TERRIBLE.

You are absolutely correct on both items.

FM has the potential to make good News and Talk formats much more competitive with younger demographics. But, FM is just a band, where most of the potential listeners happen to be, it is not a silver bullet that will fix bad programming. Good programming is what wins and KXBT does not have very much of it.

If 590 moved, to say 93.7, their ratings would no doubt improve greatly over the AM numbers. They have good, relevant programming that people actually want to hear.

There is no Winter book. What was recently issued is the January full book. THis week, the February book wioll be out this Friday. There are no rolling averages or trends or parts to the PPM survey, which has 13 full books a year.

Actually there is a winter and spring book ahead. This was the fall book. PPM doesn't start until this summer in Austin. The spring book is the last diary method "book".
