It's High Country, not Hill Country, and sometimes they will say Charlotte in their id.
They're Hot AC, no doubt about that.amfmradio1 said:AllAccess says they're Hot AC.
R&R says they're CHR/Top 40.
What are they?
hschutte said:WKBC plays a decent variety of Hot-AC music. They sound much better than when 107.9 played that format. Is there any news on if they may move into the charlotte area. That is one format missing.
Jim said:I lidten all the time and I live in Southwest Charlotte! The stations in Charlotte suck. Kiss 95.1...good song...good song...good song...RAP! Yuk. CHR stations in non black areas such as the northeast tend to go very light on rap...if they play any at all. That is not the case here. WNKS should lighten up on the rap...but they are too scared to loose points to 96.1. I am sick of stations in Charlotte trying to copy each other. We pretty much have two Chr's, two light ac's, two classic rock. There is even someone on this board from K 1047 that said they will never let 102.9 win! Give us some variety! I hate it! WKBC is the only reason I have not turned to sattelitte yet.

It's "WKBC, North Wilkesboro, Winston-Salem and the High Country."

I beg to differ with that.
It's a battle.
Sometimes, 102.9 is on top, then 104.7, or a tie.

@Three PM, I heard "WKBC-N. Wilkesboro/Winston-Salem/BOONE & The High Country".
Do they add secondary "book" towns, such as Boone (that are included in their ratings - the station I work at calls them "book" towns) to their ID as stations have been doing recently, besides their primary ID cities of N. Wilkeboro/Winston-Salem?
For example, would tomorrows' ID be "WKBC-N. Wilkesboro/Winston-Salem/BLOWING ROCK & The High Country"?
