Latest from Earth 103.3

One thing that bothers me though is I have heard a couple oldies on the station that are those hideous bargin bin "newer stereo mixes by some of the original artists". Yes I have heard that, was kind of shocked. Heard "Yes I'm Ready" by Barbara Mason that was definitely a re-recorded version and she sounded like she was really over doing it trying to sound like the original. Heard it about 4:21 AM. Anyway do these music groups that they buy from not know the originals from re-recordings? I always hated those things and have always scrutinized when buying CD's to make sure I have the original classics. Does this drive anyone else nuts??

I've been listening online from Connecticut on and off for the past few weeks. Great station. Wish we had a station up here like this. DMG has an AM station up here. Maybe the Earth-FM folks can take over that station too. (Nah. I already had a conversation with someone at DMG about putting this type of format on the Connecticut station. He said no and DMG was happy with the station the way it is).

Look I'm not being mean to anyone, never my intention at all, but you'd think that people in the business would know the difference between the original and those re-recordings. Re-recordings do not send people down memory lane because it's not the song, the way they heard it growing up. Every re-recording I've ever heard sounded like some cheap imitation by some local wannabe band. Hopefully they'll change this though, maybe they haven't noticed those because I'm sure they buy all that music as a package deal. Maybe they'll notice and change.

wild hair idea, you think Love & Hudson , may try to package their show up and sydi-keep-tion it out some southern markets, just popped in head while on treadmill,,

Syndicating Love and Hudson didn't work back when they had listeners in this market. And, I agree, the station is in need of a PD who knows what he or she is doing. It's sloppy and unfocused. 2 shares tops, if that.

Earth Fans, pay no attention to the last post, pay no attention to that man behind the curtain. It's not The Wizard of Oz, nor is it Bobby Ewing taking a shower,...yet MarkSC, known Boob subscriber to Short, Shallow, Re-"Done"-duntly Redundant, Burnt, Toasted, Over-played, and then Over-played again, Allegedly Auditorium Tested, Know-it-all...yet Know Nothing...Pencilneck Consultant approved, we are sick of these songs, Playlists. Take him with a grain of salt...the sodium will not kill you, unless you are a slimey porch slug, but this post is not about Freqdev-AKA BigA Junior. The only negative for Earth FM is merely poor coverage, and there will not be any place to hide, if they solve that restraint. Love & Hudson are not interested in being Syndi-ed. Being #1, 6a-10a, A25-54, in the GSP is the Prime Directive. The coverage problem is one step at a time. My negative speak is...No, the playlist has a few flaws, but the Deep & Wide, Size & Variety of it...is Totally Correct.
Trust Me, I Know!
Scooter Lesley.

Sorry, but MarkSC is right. Earth sounds like a train wreck. I can't imagine it getting a 2 share. I wish them luck considering that they are trying to do local radio, but the imaging lacks and the music is all over the map. Every time they roll the Dave Clark Five, The Ronettes, or some mid-60s one hit wonder, I'm gone. I really was hoping it would have improved by now, but they seem pretty set on this formula.

boot Scooter, i think too, their market will and has reached a ton of baby boomers that have money and are desicion makers , never underestimate , the people who write the checks, Godspeed Earth,

the water is always clearer at the top

#1 6a-10a 25-54?? I may not stop laughing till Christmas! Get real, Scoot.
Do you think Earth will do as well as ESPN Greenville (The Sports Authority) did? How many people went broke on that one? I hope they break the top eight.

Their imaging is horrible.

If I'm putting this much money in to something, I'm going to at least try to make the music mix halfway cohesive and drop a little for quality, well-produced imaging. The liners are just boring.

It amuzzzzes me when people speak, before the think. Yes, this is 2013. Ya got the year right, but John Boy(Isley) not only sez "Duh", but more repetively his own catch..."Duh-Huh"! He is a Millionaire, and the name of his (second) 70-foot Yacht is "The Duh-Huh II".

Well,...no one wants to hear EARTH on both 103's more than I do. Technic-leee, it won't be success, but..."You can see it from there!".
It is my understanding that 103.3 is lease to own. That contract might have a "right of first..." in it, regarding 103.9 However, I repeat myself from an earlier typing: "As long as the Pay-soes keep rolling in, the Highpanic Highway is a clear path. Last week, I got recog-o-nized in a record store, and asked if I had any negative speak for EARTH?
Yes, but their flaws are few. There is one that was simply not thought of, before their launch: "Fake Stereo". Some of the music from the Sixties does not have/never did have a true Stereo mix. When we began WANS-FM(CHR) in the Fall of '79, we notice that the "Fake", Rechanneled, Alleged Stereo versions just sounded Awww-ful coming out of a true FM Stereo Transmitter. However, our brilliant Engineer re-dubbed the problem songs in either "Double Mono" or in Matrix Stereo; which is: the Left equals=L+R, and the Right equals=the R-alone, but tweaked. When I heard Bill Love play "I Saw Her Standing There", I knew that it wasn't addressed. Later, I heard another song that was clearly "Double Mono". It had made it into the hard drive, as such. No "Fake" Stereo version of it was ever produced.

Well what I don't get, Scooter, is why they keep playing those cheap non original versions of songs. It's like those cheap CD's you buy and get home only to discover they're not the original hit, the've been "re-recorded" or "newer stereo versions containing some of the original artists" , crap like that. I've heard this happen on Earth 4-5 times now with different songs. They may have the original singer but they are not the original tune, the mostly sound like some house band tried to play the original! HOW does that kind of thing happen on a radio station? I thought radio stations were supposed to know which songs are the originals and which are knockoffs?

Recently, I purchased a '94 Camry, with a blown engine. To return it to the road, I'll either have to purchase a used engine or a (new in the)Crate Engine...a packaged "Start-up". When EARTH readied their launch they had to get the playlist from somewhere,...maybe Century 21?... So, a "Start-up" package was acquired. When purchasing such,...you can get "A Pig In A Poke"(southern expression)...titles that you wanted, but from undetermined origins. There are 3-maybe-4 different recordings of "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald". Also, there are Awww-ful Top 40 7"-inch edits that are trimmed to fit the 3-minute mark. The single edits for "Night Moves", and "Dream On" are two of the worst! Re-records such as "The In Crowd", and "Kicks" are very common. As I said, in an earlier typing...some negative speak against EARTH, the problem with rechanneled "Fake" Stereo songs was not addressed, before launch. "I Saw Her Standing There" sounded like John & Paul were singing from separate foxholes. To me, there should be an on-going mission to delete, and add...what is correct. If they need any help in pointing them out, they know where to find me...under the hood of that...Camry!

Haha Scooter I heard that brother! I think perhaps that maybe they aren't aware that it's going on, maybe they haven't "caught" them yet to correct it. Not sure but I hope they get that corrected. I'm the same as you, I want to see them succeed.
