Latest Greatest Arbitron Corador Trends

Ok,
So WLW's still huge. Also, what's up with 96 rock? They don't seem to be doing too well.

In Dayton,
Oh how low can WING go?
Wow.

Speaking of Dayton, it looks like WDHT might end up being the breadwinner for Main Line. As for WDKF, it looks like they might want to rethink that voicetracking idea because its not working.

96 Rock is not bad, but I wonder if they have any traction outside of morning drive? Cumulus is not promoting the station much either. It seems 949 The Sound is still taking a chunk of WEBN's audience.

WLW could run German music and it would still be huge :)

Funny you should mention that.

I actually enjoyed some German music last Sunday morning. I think it was WOBO.

Maybe WLW could play some on Sunday nights instead of repeated broadcasts of a daytime show.

I have always wondered why 96 Rock is not in the Dayton ratings. It comes in crystal clear in most of the Mid-Southern Dayton Area. I listen to it every day, same with WSWD.

KRC had a good trend in '04. Presidential Election have anything to do with it or just a cyclical lucky placement of diaries. Does it really sound any different to you?

Re: Latest Greatest Arbitron Trends

Maybe it was all that Monica Crowley that popped KRC. Oh, wait a minute...this is radio. You can't see her blondeness on radio.

KRC has indeed changed since 04. There's a different Thomas in AM drive, and he's flying solo. And the night signal is worse than ever. And all the segues are done with an unsharpened stone axe thanks to that version of NexGen no one seems to have mastered.

(Note to thread starter: This is how you spell "corridor". Thanks...)

Funny that you should mention KRC's night signal. It has gotten bad over the last 2 to 3yrs to point where its almost unlistenable. I'm hearing other 550s under them, WGR Buffalo KTRS St Louis. I wonder why there isn't any attempt by Clear Channel to fix this? A few months ago KRC was running full daytime power at night for a week. It's a shame that the station's signal is unlistenable past sunset.

Re: Latest Greatest Arbitron Trends

That it is. At first, I suspected neglect at the budget level (how long since CCU gave the engineers money to rehab the ground radials?), but now I wonder if they've been victims of copper theft? KRC has one of the worst low-end-of-dial signals anywhere. And as long as it's in the corporate shadow of WLW, I doubt that anything will ever be done about it.

The ground system has only been installed since the early 70's when they moved from the Alms Hotel. Interference comes from St. Louis, who has been on special temporary authority for wind damage to their towers for several years. KRC was never great going out Glenway or toward Indiana, but with St. Louis blasting this way, they really take it in the shorts.

550 blasts into southern clermont county along the river, including down in the river valley. Its signal is much more powerful than 700, day or night.
