Washington Latest in Tri/Walla Walla

I don't know if this is due to my SDR antenna, but KEGX 106.5 is completely missing from Moses Lake. I can receive it decently at my new place in Richland, though without RDS. I wonder if it's also broadcasting from its aux...

KOOL FM Ceases Operations

This Leaves only BIG 95.7 as the only classic hits
Station

KOLW was only airing national spots - it was a raw satellite feed. All of the Omaha Steaks and tax relief ads normally covered up were heard on the air. Also there was an 'oh wow' song usually around :40 past the hour that was normally covered up by stations carrying the WW1 feed for the local break. Those songs also aired live.
Why do I bet it comes back in the next 6-12 months as yet another Spanish FM?
I don't even know if KKSR can even be heard in its city of license at the moment.

I don't see it coming back as a Spanish station unless it's sold, starts simulcasting or switches places with KZHR or there's an LMA.

Speaking of KZHR, it's currently silent at the moment with its RDS radio text displaying the previous branding (La Super 92.5).

KEGX is back to full power with RDS.

I'm doubtful. I can't even pick it up in Moses Lake.

There's two spots up on the Scenic Dr hill where I can get the KKSR aux. One of them is on Englewood Crest, the other is on N 53rd. Both spots are very weak and noisy, at 1500 ft elev. Normally both spots can get 2 bars from the main transmitter, and the RDS triggers too.
Another possibility is 97.5 goes religious and simulcasts KMBI Spokane, making that new 92.9 translator useless. Or Air 1 expands to Tri (i.e., EMF buys them out).

Agreed that KTCV has quite an offering. You can hear them on TuneIn or at:

It's an Icecast2 server.
Indeed it does. I use that link to stream KTCV on VLC when I go back to Moses Lake, but it's not needed here because it comes in quite well virtually everywhere in the area.

I wish KTCV had RDS (or even better HD - that would help eliminate static noise at night when I'm trying to sleep).

97.5 will probably return as a "Classic Spanish Christian Hits" or some extra unwanted format in that wasteland. I would have flipped it to a BOB or JACK and leaned heavily 90's.....which can't even be heard in TC.

KKSR plays a lot of '90s music, but perhaps one of those old-school rhythmic-type stations would also fit. Like what KMGW in Yakima used to be. Could it work? There's a good chunk of people in Tri who are 40-50, plus the rising Hispanic demographic, but do they want to hear Destiny's Child, 702, Bobby Brown, etc.?

Albeit, speaking of Christian hits, it would be nice if Positive Life Radio would have a request hour or a lunch hour (ala KIOK) that plays classic CCM music. I love Christian and worship music but I am starting to tune out a lot of the overplayed songs...like that new Housefires 'I Thank God', I swear it airs once an hour. Yet Maranatha, Avalon, Susan Ashton, early Michael W. Smith, Point of Grace, and many others don't exist. 15 years ago you would hear those artists/bands on PLR.

These are my theories on the fate of 97.5: Either it will be sold to a Spanish/Hispanic broadcaster, bringing yet another Mexican station to Tri-Cities, it will be sold to some trash religious broadcaster like VCY, or it will be sold to EMF, allowing for Air1 (or Radio Nueva Vida) to enter the market.

On that note, I wonder if they would ever upgrade KRKL to HD to allow for both Air1 and Radio Nueva Vida to broadcast in Tri-Cities.

Tom Kent's Music Magazine returned to KKSR / Big 95.7 as of last Monday. Airs 6-midnight in // with KARY here in Yakima.

The irony. Remember the 'Classic Hits 95.7' days? Before More and The Bridge? They were 24/7 Fun during that period. I believe Bill Shannon and the other personalities were on that station.

Isn't there a low-power station like that in TC at 107.3? I haven't listened to it, it's not my cup of tea. I'd just like to hear some Matchbox 20, Sheryl Crow, Blues Traveler, Alanis, Goo Goo Dolls and No Doubt when I come to visit. It's pretty sad you can hear those songs in Yakima, which is WAY higher in hispanic #'s, but barely any those artists in TC.

Classic hip hop, The Beat. Which supposedly is relayed via KWCQ Condon OR on 106.1...but I don't think it's even on the air! They don't air any of the older R&B that KMGW used to play.

KWVN 107.7 Pendleton and occasionally KKSR air some of these these artists. 107.3 is classic hip-hop.

What is 95.3 in Kennewick playing these days? Last time I was there, it was a Westwood One Classic rock format (which has moments of greatness, and moments of god-awful). Radio Locator has it as country and the urockradio.com webpage is gone.

95.7 plays some great songs, but I hear songs that charted well at the time but, (in my opinion) nobody wants to hear now. Examples: Donny Osmond, the 3rd single from Wilson Phillips, Michael Bolton, Andy Gibb......... I just don't hear those songs in other markets.......and there's probably a good reason.

Last I checked it was still U-ROCK on 95.3 in Tri-Cities. Yes, I have heard 'Soldier of Love' Donny Osmond on BIG 95-7.

I can verify that 95.3 is still U-Rock. Apparently it's fed by "KWDR-HD2" though its ID says "KLKY-HD2", but KWDR is now KTRI and neither of them are in HD.

U-Rock's website is here: Welcome to UROCK Radio Home

I think it did...hopefully temporary.
