Latest KNX Numbers

With KFWB out of the way, KNX is starting to regain some share of the audience. They're #6! Click on "Ratings".

In 25-54, where they were usually 23rd or 24th, they broke into the top 40, although just barely.

David: Do you mean "top 10", or did their demos fall apart that badly?

So is it true, in the latest "book" does KNX have their best numbers since the 1995 OJ Trial?

KNX's 3.5 (Persons 6+) in March is the highest top-line share for the station since it had a 3.7 (Persons 12+) in the Winter 1995 book.

Sorry, meant Top 20. They are 19th in that important sales demo.

Ahhhhh yes, back in the days when they had the Drama Hour, 2 football games on Sunday and the Monday night game as well. When, after the top of the hour news they'd give you a summary of all the news stories coming up so if you didn't have time to listen, you'd still be informed as to what was going on. They were a much better station and the news was a lot better then too. And they STILL haven't acheived the numbers that they did back then? They are just getting near them? WOW! How sad.

It's very risky to compare diary-based numbers from 16 years ago with PPM numbers from last month. And, with the very different PUR levels, share adds a further degree of risk.

The 12+ 6-Mid from Fall, 1994 was a 2.2 share share and 38,000 AQH persons with a 9.8 cume reach. In the most recent book, the 12+ showed a 3.6 share, an AQH persons of 38,000 persons and a cume reach of 12.0.

In other words, KNX is, today, in the same general range on AQH persons and exceeds the cume reach compared to 1994 (the market is about 10% larger, 12+ today, but most of that growth is in under-age-35 Hispanics, not a notable target of talk).

The station is doing quite well compared with that long ago past, particularly when we compare very different ratings methodologies.
