WJQM's first ratings book with a better signal was a disappointment as it didn't gain at all. I think it needs 2 or 3 books to see if this was a good move for the station. For years, I thought a rhythmic station would do better on a better signal in Madison proper and if WJQM's ratings don't improve by the end of 2009, it pretty much shows Madison is for the most part a top 40 town.
Also, country WWQM actually declined quite a bit even though it is now on a second signal too. Magic 98 though was back near the top again which is some consolation for Midwest Family. Impressive book for WXXM the Mic as well, the best one in awhile, must have been related to the elections. I noticed that Dave Ramsey has now been taken off the mornings (after a short interval) and the liberal talker Bill Press will replace him. If WXXM can continue to earn ratings like this past book, CC will probably leave them alone.
