Latest on Inner City: High (and only bidder) Was Creditors

With them having to be sold I wonder if Entercom would want to come into Columbia. Or would one of the other players be willing to sell some stations to get the grand prize at 101.3? Could that even be done? Now back to my Sunday morning do nothing...

According to the second article, the only transaction envisioned right now is the transfer from Inner City to the Magic Johnson consortium, plus the forced spin-off of one Columbia FM. Whether consortium decides to then sell Columbia and Jackson and keep SFC/NYC or some other combination, that is not apparent. The consortium already operates in Phoenix under a different name. In fact they made headlines because they killed off their alternative rocker for Classic Hits.

(Fantasy)...I would love to see WXRY on 101.3 giving them full signal across the midlands.
I was in Columbia last Thursday on the way to Fort Jackson and was having trouble hearing them on 99.3
Near Irmo, the Columbiana Mall and on I-20 where I had complete static near exit 68, not even 4 miles from downtown.
It did make it to Fort Jackson near I-77 ok though. At least an upgrade to 100 watts if possible on 99.3
so you can hear them out toward Irmo, Lexington & Blythewood. Great station and great variety. :)

I am sure we will see things at ICCB pan out sooner then later, but now that I am awake I can see 93.1 being unloaded to someone... Wonder would Miller want that stick... hey could have The Kat on 93.1 and 93.9 pretty much giving him pretty decent coverage of Columbia... CC1

Of course this was once said about WTQR in Greensboro and WIVK in Knoxville and now people are predicting the end for both stations, but WIVK has been going downhill only a short time.

WWDM and cockroaches will survive Armageddon.

Depends on who the new owner is, most likely it'll remain with the same format,
but if it ends up in the hands of someone with interest in putting something new on, it'll be gone quick.

I'm sure Inner City wants all stations like WWDM & WBLS to remain with the Urban format because of the heritage,
but it's really out of their hands when they're bankrupt...there are definitely buyers out there dying to enter the market.
