Just rumor, not proven fact, take it FWIW...
The non-compete bill (which apparently, at latest word, will be allowed to become law by Governor Paterson) seems to permit Wease to make a debut much sooner than November 1--perhaps almost immediately. So how soon we hear him on Fox 95.1 could depend mostly on how soon the HSBC building studios are ready and Fox is physically able to launch the show.
Supposedly, most of Wease's old studio furniture and equipment from that famous and much-missed studio with a 17th floor view was left in place at HSBC after CBS left town and Entercom pulled the stations it bought over to its Mill St. building. The old studios once used by 98PXY may also still be in place. I haven't been up there myself, but I heard the place was left in fairly close to a turnkey condition, and that's why Clear Channel opted to use it as its new cluster HQ after the clearing out of Midtown Plaza began. If that's true, it may just be a matter of how soon they can get the studios powered up and STLs out to the Baker Hill transmitter site on line. They have a lot of stations to move (not just Fox, but Drive 100.5, Kiss 106.7, WHAM, WHTK and the rimshot country station in Ontario County on 107.3...and if they run Sunny 102.3 in Canandaigua out of the Rochester studio complex that one has to move as well. That's 6 or 7 stations, and I imagine they're going to want to move them all at once. And they probably want to move into the new complex before they launch any new shows.
Stephens may need to find a new home for the three former CBS and Entercom stations they ended up with (Warm 101.3, Fickle and the Zone), some of which were still up at HSBC as well at the time of the sale...maybe their moving out could have something to do with when Clear Channel moves in as well.
When you start hearing his voice on the Fox, you'll know his debut's just weeks away.
