LATEST PPMS

The usual suspects on top and holding steady or increasing: PRO-FM, HJY, CTK
Lite down to an 8.5. I predict an early Christmas flip
Coast holding steady. No one seems to be discovering this station and staying with it but Christmas is coming and they'll get their once-a-year bump
Big drop for PRO-AM
WHJJ continues to be clobbered by out of town stations and probably the pirates too

I used to listen to WPRO all the time. I can't even tell you the last time I tuned in. That's how long ago it was. I just got burned out on their lineup. I'm sure Matt is still good, but I don't even listen to him anymore. I heard that Paul & Al got signed to a new multi-year deal. That is probably a good thing since they have the best morning show left on the air in this town. How is Imus? His ratings are probably lower than ever. I never even see anyone mention the guy here. I'll still go to WBRU for music. WHJJ equals Rush Limbaugh. I have no clue what else that station is doing the rest of the time. If they ever lose Rush, they will in more trouble than they are already in. The only thing that surprises me about those ratings are WPRO's big drop. Maybe other people feel the same way I do. Things are getting stale on the trail.

If you look bigger-picture over the past five months, WPRO went 4.8, 4.7, 4.3, 5.6, 4.2. That September book was a spike, otherwise they're staying in the general neighborhood. The September spike is more likely than not due to Hurricane Irene... WTIC had the same spike for the September book in Hartford.

As meters turn over, ratings fluctuate up and down. WWYZ dropped almost 2 1/2 shares from one book to the next in Hartford. You've really got to look quarter to quarter to get a better picture, the monthly numbers are too fickle.

As I thought last month, things return to where they were prior to Irene. WPRO-AM and HJJ ticked back down, BRU & B101 shaved a little bit as well.

A bit of a surprise is the continued strength of EEI (now VEI) with no Celtics programming. BZ-FM made a little bit of a comeback after a couple of months of losses; but still down from the initial burst when they signed on....

It will be interesting to see if LITE has continued slide post Art Spencer and if there are any surprises tomorrow to the on air line ups of other stations in the cluster (Pro-FM, Pro-AM & Hot). With the pending switchover to X-Mas music, that question may have to wait until January...
