I think trying to get millenials to tune in to news on an FM station would require a tremendous amount of promotion (millions in TV ads, huge billboard campaign, direct mail, web ads, etc) and may not yield significant results.

I'm a Boomer, not a millennial, and even I wouldn't listen to an FM news station even if we had one. (WTIC is one of those N/T AMs that has no place to go on FM because Entercom's existing FMs in the market are doing very well in their current music formats.) I check out Google News first thing in the morning, then various local/state media sites. WTIC does a big block of news in late afternoon/early evening, but I've already read or seen everything in that news block online during the day.

I suppose the first question is if KRLD AM 1080 needs fixing? Why would it need an FM counterpart? Why would it need to change it's delivery to try to reach younger demos? It seems to do fairly well right now. That is not to say this will be the case in 5 years or more. It seems most news or news/talks in the south on 50 kw. frequencies do pretty nicely in billing and many times without a translator or full power FM.

KVIL, it seems, does poorly. I suppose the question is if it bills well and if measured against other markets, just how poorly it performs. If it is not doing well, then what remains as options for the over-radioed Dallas/Ft. Worth metro that can do much better?
