How can Urban One have so many underperforming outlets? On the Urban front, I notice that locally-owned Service Broadcasting has a commanding lead over the Urban One outlets -- KKDA has almost double the audience share of KBFB (4.1 versus 2.1), and on the Urban AC front their lead is even more commanding (4.3 for KRNB versus 1.3 for KZMJ).
WHUR and WDAS are way ahead of the Urban One competition in recentlyHow can Urban One have so many underperforming outlets?
Not only Dallas, but also Philadelphia, where full-powered WRNB has a 1.0 share. Urban One left Detroit and St Louis not too long ago.
And many of their stations can do better. WMMJ used to be in parity with WHUR, though not lately. KMJQ used to be a guaranteed Top 5 6+ (if not Top 3), but they have been outside the Top 5 for a while despite having no direct competition.
At least WZAK is an undeniable powerhouse.
Classix should be moved to 100.3 honestly what else could they do with the stationWHUR and WDAS are way ahead of the Urban One competition in recently
They probably are never going to beat WDAS. But why not what cant they loose at this point really?Classix should be moved to 100.3 honestly what else could they do with the station
Why would they get rid of JACK?Classix should be moved to 100.3 honestly what else could they do with the station
we are talking about the situation of 100.3 in Philly not DFWWhy would they get rid of JACK?
I just wonder how KZMJ would do if they were on a stronger signal?WHUR and WDAS are way ahead of the Urban One competition in recently
I doubt that they would do all that much better -- after all, it's not like Urban AC competitor KRNB is on a good signal, either. Both KZMJ and KRNB are rimshots, with the difference being that KRNB's tower is way further west, and KZMJ is almost straight north of Dallas. So I would expect KRNB to come in better around Fort Worth, and KZMJ to do better in Dallas and Dallas' north suburbs.I just wonder how KZMJ would do if they were on a stronger signal?
You'd think so, but in general KRNB seems to do better in the southern half of Dallas County.I doubt that they would do all that much better -- after all, it's not like Urban AC competitor KRNB is on a good signal, either. Would the have more listeners, yes they would, but would they be a better station, I don’t think so. For all of 105.7’s faults they still have local ownership who can adjust quickly to market conditions.I doubt that they would do all that much better -- after all, it's not like Urban AC competitor KRNB is on a good signal, either. IMO, Majic is the better station. More variety, good programs. KRNB is just boring to me. Quietstorm 7 days a week, and the playlist is not as wide as Majic's.Would the have more listeners, yes they would, but would they be a better station, I don’t think so. The only time i really listen to music radio is Sunday Mornings. I like the local gospel show on 105.7. I prefer it over Gospel Traxx on 94.5.IMO, Majic is the better station.
