Could KTU be holding Z100 back a bit? Could KTU be a needed pawn move to protect WLTW? The enemies are getting kinda close to the Queen. Dont be Suprised if another change happens to KTU. Long shot Maybe. Could KTU Go Altenative? It would Push Z100 up and get the former RXP Listeners. Could KTU Go Classic Hits? Keep CBS-FM From overtaking WLTW?

Possible.

Not Possible.

KTU bills a TON. No Alternative station would match it. Remember it's not about ratings, it's about REVENUE. K and Z bill just fine and their core audiences are quite different. No reason to mess with them now anyway.

I think it would be wise for KTU to go Alternative and flip completely. They're killing Z100's ratings and it's overlapping musically with Z, Power, & Lite. They would be filling in a gap. Or they could go Country as WYNY again I would love that.

Wise? Really? Based on your logic, they should go polka. They'd fill a format gap, and not overlap musically with anyone.

You just want them to play what you want. Don't try to invent some logic. Just call it what it is.

We must remember, though, that the most hated format of the last decade on New York radio message boards was the one that boasted that they were "Playing What We (as in the target audience, although it was interpreted as the station) Want."

It would have been less hated had it not replaced a more loved format. In other markets, the same format was way more successful.

We had this same thing happen here in Detroit last year with Channel 955 and 106.7 The Beat Of Detroit. 106.7 began taking away from 955 audience. The station did bill well and brought in some decent revenue in the two years it was on air. The reason it flipped was simply because it was slowly taking away listeners from Channel and WNIC. Ironically they went Rock a year ago today.

KTU is part of a brick wall that Clear Channel has on the spectrum of women... 18-34 with Z-100, 25-44 with KTU, 35+ with Lite.

And, as has been stated before, KTU is a major biller. And the three are all in the top 5 in 25-54 and 25-54 women.

You just named a reason KTU should stay with the status quo. If they're killing Z100, why would they flip? I want rock back just as much as you brother, but don't kill your argument that way. Write to Cumulus (I really think 94.7 is our best chance) and tell them alternative has a lot of potential.

For those of you who want to write to Cumulus, here's a number you can cite: WRXP actually tied with Hot 97 in Middlesex-Somerset-Union (both getting a 2.4). And it did even better in Long Island, though I'm not gonna go over those figures again.
