If the trend holds, WDVE will be the #1, 12+ come full book time.

Thing is, NO OTHER ROCK STATION moved much up or down in the overalls. Where'd these people come from?

UMMMMM.....Given the success of the Steelers & an early Xmas gift via SCM.....it's a no-brainer. Of course, the spin docs at 650 Smithfield are going to have something to say. But because this a region that'll hold onto something until it's pried away from their cold, dead fingers, and classic rock falls right into that catagory. So when WRRK flipped, CC were like wolves around a carcass.

If one combines WOGI-FM, WOGG-FM, WOGF-FM, and WOGH-FM into one total, the Frogs appear to have increased while Y-108 has lost. If all four Frogs were on the same lilly pad, then they'd be the #5 station in town. The margin between the four Frogs and Y-108 is less than the net difference in listener change between the two (Y-108's loss + the Frog's gain).

The combined losses on 3WS and WRKZ are a little bit bigger than the gain on WDVE.

The total of the Fa'05 P1 column is lower than the total of Fa'05 P2, to a degree close to WRRK's rating for the month.

WAMO had the biggest gain of any station that month. Go figure.

WRRK had a teensy little gain. Is that an indication that listeners like BOB, or just that listeners were curious enough to sample Bob?

One thing about WDVE is that in sampling their cuts from yes.com against some other rock radio stations they seem to be playing a bit more contemporary mixes (songs from 1990 and beyond) in their play list than other stations in other markets.

The station I really think this hurts is The X. I've never been a really big fan of The X- if Homer Simpson thinks rock peaked in 1974 I think the genre's glory days were from 1980-90 so The X simply doesn't cater to my demographic- but my point is the Generation Y's and younger DO have an alternative in this city to listen to their brand of rock on K-Rock and WDVE.

And a rock audience is much like a country audience in that you have an appriciation for the previous eras as well as your own- which is something you don't have in pop.

So, a 20-something will listen to a WDVE and/or K-Rock, thus boosting their ratings and limiting the appeal of The X.

You are correct in your observation. There's something else about it you didn't mention. The contemporary rock songs that 'DVE includes are the ones that have a more "vintage" or classic sound to them, even though they're recorded by newer artists.

More than that, rock performers have a greater appreciation for music from previous eras. Much like thei country counterparts, rock performers aren't afraid to sound like their genre's ancestors.

Take that a step further. A forty or fifty something will also listen (and enjoy) to the well selected newer songs on 'DVE. The X has too many songs that are so different in sound from classic rock that the older listeners are turned off.

Did you copy that from the same place you found "Bury my cöck in her"?

Have you ever had an original thought in your entire life?
